the projectiles they load in the 16"guns on battle ships I believe they are rifled and so they fit the rifle category
as far as shoulder fired either a 4 bore or a 50BMG not sure light and fast or heavy and slow
shotgun would have to go with a 10 gauge 3 1/2" slug
pistol 500 S&W

The biggest LEGAL bullets in the U.S. currently(by federal law) are:
Rifle: .50BMG: Not a lot of contest here. Nearly 13,000lb-ft in factory spec loadings leaves very little to be desired.
Shotgun: 12Gauge 3.5": SAAMI specs on these allow them to be loaded to a high enough pressure to beat out the 10-gauge, the largest legal shotgun caliber currently allowed.
Pistol: .45-70 Government: While not normally a pistol caliber, several manufacturers have wedged this anti-buffalo artillery shell into huge revolver frames. It's more than enough power for hunting any game in North America. A Thompson-Center single shot pistol can be chambered for most rifle cartridges, but I'm not counting those, since it's just a singe shot break action whose only use is for hunting/target purposes.

Here we go again. This question has been asked a hundred times.
OK he asked the biggest. Not the legal to hunt with biggest.
So rifles (hand held) would be the 50 BMG
Shotguns would be the 1 gage made in Britain.
Pistols would be the 500 S&W which beats the 45-70 in energy and size.
