Does this mean you should get (if you follow this general recommendation) 2,000 calories a day before working out?

What I mean is does that mean if I burn 800 calories working out should I take in 2800 for that day... or is it 2,000 calories total regardless of workout?

Thanks guys!!

No one has clearly answered this question yet... all answers so far are, at best, mediocre.

average woman should be eating 2000cal/day, a man - 2500cal/day.
If you are working out- you are trying to achieve something -lose weight, gain weight/muscle.
the best thing is to find daily calorie intake calculator, enter your stats and find out how many calorie a day exactly you need.
Plus- never count calories burned - its pointless and you will never know the exact number.
