I really like him, and he gets in trouble alot. I offered to tutor him so I get to spend more time with him :) but how can I get him to use less swear words?

He's not a bad guy, he's just trying to be cool, but still, it's kinda annoying...

First of all read your question out loud. You've answered it already. First of all this guy is sounds like a looser. Swears, isn't polite to others, gets in trouble a lot. (BIG red flag) and needs tutoring. (Doesn't sound like the sharpest tool in the tool shed.) My guess is that he will eventually have a criminal record if he already doesn't have one. Question: Why would anyone with any self-esteem be attracted to a looser like your describing. Answer: You don't have any! Please, for God sakes aim higher! there are a lot more guys that would be worth your time and energy. Life lesson #1 YOU CAN'T CHANGE PEOPLE! Trust me on this one. The biggest mistake women (and men) make is they think they have the power to change someone's behavior. Life Lesson #2: Never put anyone on a pedestal before you put yourself on it first. If they prove themselves to be worthy, only then let them stand next to you. Make sure if they are abusive in any way you have the clarity to say bye-bye to them and not stay in a messed up relationship because "I LOVE HIM!" Love yourself more. Move on. Good riddance to bad rubbish as they say. Good Luck!

Wince whenever he says a word you don't like. If he doesn't get the message that way, you might just have to spend less time around him. You could also possibly say something very polite like, "I really enjoy spending time with you, but I find it hard to listen to that kind of language."

I told my sons that swear words are what the uneducated resort to when they can't think of a better word. It was very effective. But how do you say that to a guy you like without insulting him? I cant begin to imagine...

Perhaps you could tell him that his language detracts from what he is actually trying to say?

But I gotta ask, if he foul-mouthed and rude (according to you) what do you see in him that's worth redeeming?

Life lesson most women don't learn until after a divorce: YOU CAN'T CHANGE A GUY.

Sorry. Hope you have better luck next guy.

Explain to him that people use swear words because they lack to vocabulary to use anything else.
