Not all Christians are called by God to the mission field in Sudan. Who would be left in the U.S. to care for Sudanese refugess? Who would be left to send those going to help? Evolutionist Atheists? Does it then follow that all Buddhists should all go help in New Orleans? All Muslims should go help in Southeast Asia?

What is your point?

Here's what the LCMS is doing in Sudan: LCMS World Mission in Sudan: http://www.lcms.org/pages/internal.asp?NavID=6745

I am one person. All I can do is play the part God has for me in fighting sin & its effects. If that's not in Sudan, does that somehow make me a hypocrite? No, not at all. That said, I am probably a hypocrite in several other ways. What a wretched person I am! Thank God for our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ!

There are christians in the Sudan. Did you honestly think there weren't any? Get a clue.

There are christian missions all over the world. Pick a country. You see, christians help the poor. They help the poor more than any other group of people. But, they are also political. They also stay on the homefront, and speak out against things like gay marriage, and abortion. That's right, christians can do both! They can help the poor around the world, AND be political at home. They can walk and chew gum at the same time. Amazing, isn't it?

Go help the Sudanese?

Right because everyone in America or any other 1st World Nation(of all places and peoples to ask?!) knows how to survive a desert environment, give effective humanitarian aid, and knows how to fight of the janjaweed with a rifle?

Yeah - i'm not even your target audience and i can tell you - it would have been better/a lot more effective to go tell your audience to make this an issue for '08 election....

Monte- This atheist has been working to put an end to the genocide in Darfur for the past two years. The sanctions Bush signed against the Sudanese government were the result of a massive e-mail / phone campaign by people like me. I have also donated money to the refugee support organizations. Also, we are willing to take refugees into our home and have them live with us as long as they like.
And we won't even try to convert them to our beliefs.
Thanks for asking.

All serve according to their abilities. Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to go to the Sudan. However, I do support the Anglican Mission there. I am sorry I cannot be as direct as you would like. But I am doing my best.

BTW, when do you go? I will add you to my prayer list when you do.

I challenge YOU to go over there. I'll stay here and help the people in my own community. Charity begins at home.

I love what the previous answerer said.

What do YOU do to help anyone in any place at any time? Do you ever? Or do you merely point fingers?
(When you do, there are 4 pointing back at you.)

Have you signed up? I am concerned about Sudan, but I am involved in another country where children are suffering. We each need to do our bit where God leads us.
However, if you feel called to Sudan, then god bless you - go for it!
