Percentage wise, Wicca is the fastest growing. Islam is very popular in prisons, though, as is born-againism.
From the same site:
<81% of American adults identify themselves with a specific religion:
76.5% (159 million) of Americans identify themselves as Christian. This is a major slide from 86.2% in 1990. Identification with Christianity has suffered a loss of 9.7 percentage points in 11 years -- about 0.9 percentage points per year. This decline is identical to that observed in Canada between 1981 and 2001. If this trend has continued, then:
at the present time (2007-MAY), only 71% of American adults consider themselves Christians
The percentage will dip below 70% in 2008
By about the year 2042, non-Christians will outnumber the Christians in the U.S.
52% of Americans identified themselves as Protestant.
24.5% are Roman Catholic.
1.3% are Jewish.
0.5% are Muslim, followers of Islam.>
Another site states:
But the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks have brought new scrutiny to Muslim inmates, many of whom are black men focused on surviving incarceration. While prison chaplains of various denominations argue that Islam offers a spiritual path to rehabilitation, others say it has the potential to turn felons into terrorists. The FBI calls prisons "fertile ground for extremists.">

One of the reasons why Islam is growing tremendously is because of societal awareness of Islam. Since 9/11, many Americans and Europeans have questioned Islam. This event ultimately triggered a positive result, rather than a negative. More and more people are studying Islam in schools, universities and libraries. Many non-Muslims knew about Islam through 9/11, and after reading the Quran many have converted.
Decades ago, Islam was known to be a far-away religion in a far-away place (the Middle East). It was known to be a religion based off the Arabic people. Now, Muslims are very diverse, including all different ethnicities and background.

Increase in the world religions from 1934 to 1984.
An article in Reader’s Digest ‘Almanac’, year book 1986, gave the statistics of the increase of percentage of the major religions of the world in half a century from 1934 to 1984. This article also appeared in ‘The Plain Truth’ magazine. At the top was Islam, which increased by 235%, and Christianity had increased only by 47%. May one ask, which war took place in this century which converted millions of people to Islam?
Islam is the fastest growing religion in America and Europe.
Today the fastest growing religion in America is Islam. The fastest growing religion in Europe in Islam. Which sword is forcing people in the West to accept Islam in such large numbers?
People not only from west and U.S.A but worldwide people are coming to Islam because of the fact that Islam is the innate religion of man..and also because GOD says in the Qur'an that(don remember verse) that "When truth(Islam) is hurled against falsehood(other religions), falsehood perishes..for verily, falsehood is by it's nature bound to perish"..
No matter how much the unbelievers don't like it, Islam will overcome all the other ways of life, all the 'isms' of life.all the fake religions..Islam is "destined" to supercede them all, overcome them all, master them all!
Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson rightly says, ’People who worry that nuclear weaponry will one day fall in the hands of the Arabs, fail to realize that the Islamic bomb has been dropped already, it fell the day MUHAMMED (pbuh) was born’
Hope that answers the question;
And Allah knows the best;
May peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be on the viewers

Asalam Alaikum.
I'm glad to see that you are interested in becoming a Muslim. I encourage you to keep studying Islam and do not rush into reverting.
Islam is the fasting growing religion because people are finding the truth in it. In Islam there is both proof and faith.
Please watch this lecture, it is a bit lengthy (it has seventeen parts to it), but it is very good! It is by the brilliant Muslim scholar Dr. Zakir Naik and the topic of the lecture is, "Why is the west coming to Islam?"
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Sola4SYJ0ck (the first three minutes is an introduction about the Islam Research Foundation and Dr. Zakir Naik).
When that ends you can just follow the links on the side to watch the other parts.
Thank you for your time.
Salam.

I personally heard that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world from a conservative Christian friend.
I guess many who turn Muslims feel strong about it because they find true Islam is way different than how it's stereotyped.
They feel distrust toward the society and people who lied to them about Islam, and kept demonizing it for years.

I think it is most logical one..Actualy this rate of conversion has increased alot after 9/11 becuase media had projected islam in a very wrong way and people got curious what actualy this religion is..when they studied it , it was totally different that what has been potrayed and actualy i would say that media's negative propaganda has somehow benefited islam that people knew it beeter but only for those who tried...as this is a fact that many of the people were brianwashed against it ! depends upon the one's understanding ..I would say it is more logical, close to reality and inspiring ! this is how i felt my religion after comparing its basics with other ones !
Peace !

in case you connect the religion I in basic terms invented, Woltism, it incredibly is going to be the quickest-starting to be faith in united statesa. having doubled in length in in basic terms the time it took you to connect me. In any journey Sikhism and Buddhism are the two starting to be swifter than Islam in united statesa.. worldwide, Islam get under one million converts each and every 365 days, Christianity gets 2 million. of direction, it is not sparkling the type you degree how briskly a faith is starting to be. Is it truthfully the form of people? Is it the proportion growth? Do you count type people born into that faith or do you recommend converts? How do you count type people who pass from one usa to a various? replace: Do you fairly not understand why your references are not convincing? Your references are just to people repeating your declare. an invaluable reference would present day *info* to assist your declare. None of those expenditures, as an occasion, say whether by skill of "starting to be" you recommend in proportion words or absolute words. It in basic terms sounds like a great form of people repeating them comparable fable. How approximately quoting somebody who stated "Islam is the quickest starting to be faith because of the fact it incredibly is starting to be cost cost X, and Y, the 2nd-quickest faith is in basic terms starting to be at cost Z". *That* would be a reference that would convince somebody. (of direction, no such reference exists because of the fact the declare is fake.)

Yap! And why?
Because as God said;
Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
People chooses where the think is popular to the worldly system and easy to become a member! No need to be" Born Again in the Spirit of God" just join them that's it.
And maybe some is anticipating the persecution (1John 3:13) to come and afraid to die for the sake of Lord Jesus Christ! But they don't realized, we are all destined to die (except those who are still live at rapture, 1Corinthians 15:52; 1Thessalonians 4:17);
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
People also wanted to unite themselves, not with God and Lord Jesus Christ! Amen.
Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
Eph 4:3 Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Rom 12:5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. AMEN.
