Actually, He will forgive suicide if you have the time to ask for forgiveness (and truly mean it) before you die. The reason it's considered unforgivable is that there is usually not time to ask for forgiveness for that particular form of murder.
The only sin that is unforgivable is blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. The problem with that is there is not a really clear definition of what that is. My best guess is that it is giving credit for things of God to other beings. But that is only a guess. Maybe someone else will give a better answer.
Edit: OK, I did a little research for you and found a couple of pages which attempt to explain the concept. Personally, I think the second page gives the better explaination. However, both are a bit too long to repost here (and I don't have the authors' permission anyway), so I'll just post the links.

and the second (in my opinion, better):

There is only one thing that cannot be forgiven and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, in any way that will blaspheme the Holy Spirit, whether it's the Holy Spirit's existence in you or anyone else.
For instance, if you sin against another person that will lead them to distrust of God, then don't expect Him to love you anymore. How is that possible?
Say for instance a child is abused until they no longer love themselves, of course that child is going to grow to distrust God, but the person that put them into that situation should not expect eternal salvation, because it cannot happen.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_sin
Don't ever assume that someone doesn't have the Holy Spirit. Don't belittle the greatness of God. There are only 2 types of people, people either trust the Holy Spirit or unaware of it's existence. Just because someone is unaware of the Holy Spirit does not mean they blaspheme the Holy Spirit. All people know right from wrong, and have the capacity to love, all made possible by the greatness of God.
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven.
Jesus did not disprove any religion, He gave God back to people who were denied knowing God.

The only one mentioned in the bible is blasphemy of the holy spirit. Mark 3:28-29 "I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."
Most scholars I've heard interpret this to mean ignoring the Holy Spirit's prompting you towards salvation for your entire life.
Blasphemy means not taking seriously, and if you never take God seriously, how can you be saved?
But don't worry, if you had committed the unpardonable sin, you wouldn't care anyway. The fact that you worry if you have is proof that you haven't.

The good news is that, no matter how serious the sin, God is always seeking us out and is willing to forgive and forget our sins and give us a fresh start. As long as we live, it is never too late to ask for forgiveness and make a new start! So Jesus used this illustration: "If you had one hundred sheep, and one of them strayed away and was lost in the wilderness, wouldn't you leave the ninety-nine others to go and search for the lost one until you found it? And then you would joyfully carry it home on your shoulders. When you arrived, you would call together your friends and neighbors to rejoice with you because your lost sheep was found. In the same way, heaven will be happier over one lost sinner who returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven't strayed away! (NLT, Luke 15:3-7) Conditions of Forgiveness Although God is always ready and willing to forgive us, He requires two things of us as conditions of forgiveness: repentance and forgiveness of others. 1) Repentance. Repentance means a sincere resolve to turn away from sin and toward God. From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." (NIV, Matthew 4:17) If our sin has harmed another person, we should try to make amends for the wrong done (Luke 19:8-10). If we have tried to hide our sin, we should confess it (Matthew 3:1-6, Matthew 18:15-18, Acts 19:18, James 5:16-17). True repentance involves sorrow for acts of sin and leads to a fundamental change in attitude. We are not perfect and may fail in our attempt to avoid sin. In that case God is always willing for us to start over and make another attempt. However, if we ask for forgiveness with the intention of sinning again, we have not really repented. Related verses: Matthew 3:2, Matthew 4:17, Mark 1:15, Mark 6:12, Luke 3:3, Luke 5:31-32, Luke 13:3-5, Luke 24:47, Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19, Acts 8:22, Acts 17:30-31, Acts 20:21, 2 Corinthians 7:10. 2) Forgiveness of others. Jesus said we must be willing to forgive people who sin against us: If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. (NLT, Matthew 6:14-15) There should be no limit to our willingness to forgive others (Luke 17:3-4). We should have a forgiving spirit even if the offender does not repent and ask for forgiveness (Mark 11:25). We damage our relationship with God and harm ourselves if we stay angry or hold a grudge (Matthew 5:21-24). Related verses: Matthew 18:21-22, Matthew 18:34-35, Ephesians 4:32. May GOD Bless and Keep You

Well... suicide USED to be OK... except that the church-dudes became alarmed because a lot of very bad, vile people were taking the 'suicide express'. Murderers, rapists, etc., became VERY concerned that they were going to go to hell, and suffer for ever-and-ever, because of all the terrifying christian preaching. So... they would convert... get baptised... then run right out and commit suicide, so that they would be assured of going straight to heaven. St. Augustine... smart guy... did the right thing. He just changed the church dogma, and added suicide to the list of 'mortal' sins.
This should serve as a CLUE to all of you deluded believers that this whole scam is pure horseshit.
P.S.: you folks REALLY ought to learn a little bit about the history of your own religion.
P.P.S.: Looking at these other answers from the deluded... I thought I would share this...
"A long and wicked life followed by five minutes of perfect grace gets you into Heaven. An equally long life of decent living and good works followed by one outburst of taking the name of the Lord in vain - then have a heart attack at that moment and be damned for eternity. Is that the system?" ~ Robert A. Heinlein
OK... look, now... and try REALLY, REALLY hard to THINK... that's right... easy now... you can do it... OK... THINK... OK... you BELIEVE that a cosmic Jewish zombie, who is his own father, can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced, by a talking snake with legs, to eat a piece of fruit from a magical tree... (etc.)... and that there is something horribly wrong with people who ARE NOT so gullible and droolingly stupid as to believe such outrageously ridiculous codswallop.
OK... here's the thing... that is INSANE.

Well with suicide, I think that if you die instantly you will go to hell. But I believe that there is a chance God could forgive you. The only unforgivable sin stated in the bible is blashemy of the Holy Ghost.

If a person is not in their right mind I don't think God will hold them accountable as in suicide, any more than a mentally handicapped person.God will know if they are or are not.
It is my learned opinion that the only unforgiveable sin is rejecting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. If one truly does make Him Lord, all your earthly works will go through fire ,like gold.Anything that doesn't measure up is burned up.There are going to be a lot of people you wouldn't think would be there in heaven, although they may smell mighty smokey!

God will forgive anything so long as you truly repent and follow Jesus' teachings.
Quote: "Suicide is one of the things that he doesn't forgive"
Suicide isn't actually directly mentioned in the bible and isn't indicated to be a major sin in any way. That's more a Catholic thing relating to tradition and not the bible.

HE DOES forgive suicide, I think. No one in his/her right mind commits suicide. God forgives EVERYTHING except for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
