what do you mean why do we allow it?? we cant physically sto someone who wants a divorce... are you saying we should ban divorce for reasons other than adultery? and not let anyone get divorced?? then you would be sayin that we are imposing our belief on society... i mean, you are all for not opressing ppl because of belief, right?? so, why do you think that anyone should be able to stop someone else from getting a divorce?
and its not like we encourage it or even think its ok, at all! but, we know it happens, and sometimes ppl just cant work thru it..
when God made us, he gave us free will.... while we do have divorces happen, that doesnt mean that there wont be punishment for it from him.....thats the way He works..... he gives us rules to live by, but he also gives us the ability to choose what we do, whether it be right or wrong. but, as christians, we know we will have judgement one day for all things not pleasing to God.
by t d : the one that is sad is you! you are so unimformed.. yes, our goal is to be christ-like. but, we ALL(even you) fall short at times..in the BIble it says we all sin and fall short. there is no way of getting around it... sin is in our nature.. no one is perfect... you know that, right?? and youre not perfect. but, i know that i try to make a conscious effort not to sin, but unfortuantely i do at times... but, i know that God is loving and forgiving and cleanses away all sin.

First of all, the bible is meant to be a guide. One translation of the bible is Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. This is where people get lost when we tend to take things literally word by word. Bible is holy and being holy means that everything that is written are solutions to our problems. If for some reason, we are always confused and finding all the negative thoughts in the bible, I’d say we need to check our own heart. You have to remember even the devil reads the bible and goes to church. His job is to seek and to destroy every way he can. The question is, which side are you on?
In the Old Testament, divorce was not allowed because it says in the scriptures that no one can separate what God put together.
In the New Testament, divorce was still not allowed, but because of our stubbornness that it was allowed. That's the only reason behind it.

Divorce is done through the legal system, not through the churches. So, I'm not sure what you mean when you ask, why christians "allow" divorce. It's up to a judge to "allow" a divorce, it's not up to the person's church or anything.
Do you see what I mean? What you should be asking is, why don't people who call themselves christian always practice obedience to God. And the answer is, because they, like you, are human, and sometimes make decisions based on high emotion, and not on rational thought. Sometimes they leave God out of their decisions. And, it's wrong to do that. A person's first reaction should always be to read the bible and pray for answers. But in practice, it doesn't always work that way. People will sometimes forget to seek wisdom from God, even christians.
When God is taken out of the center of a marriage, that marriage will fail. It may not end in divorce, but it will fail in other ways. For example, it may fail to bring up children in the Lord, which fails the children, as it makes it more difficult for them to find God on their own later.

cmepnu,
I personally do not believe that a true Christian would do so. My wife and I understand that marriage is the one thing on earth that is permanent. She is the most wonderful woman in this world and I am so fortunate that GOD supplied me with her. I thank HIM each and every day that I am able to do so. I have been and will be eternally faithful. We have been married for 32 years and I intend to remain faithful until death as my parents have done. Have a wonderful weekend and a glorious week!
Thanks,
Eds
EDIT:
To Sinmin1326,
Christ is the one who told us that Marriage is forever and that the only reason for divorce is an unfaithful spouse.
Thanks Again!

Divorce is allowed, in the Bible, for two reasons:
1. Adultry and
2. Abadonement by a non believer. See 1 Cor 7:15
But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.

Man always makes laws or social acceptable compromise away from what is God's desire for us. God's desire was for man not discard their wives because they could not cook or clean good enough. People back then held women of little value and disrespected the role of a wife. Jesus wanted to set a high standard that would make husbands care for their wives and make the marriage work. To allow many loop holes to get out of marriage would have all kinds of false accusations to end marriages. With one rule man still comes up with many excuses.
Man= men and women. ( not just the husband in today's society)
People compromise from purity all the time. We may not brake man's laws/rules but that does not mean we did not brake God's laws.
God also forgives and still loves us past our short comings. If you have a spouse that is extremely abusive or impossible to exist with then you reap what you sew and God answers prayer also. First God gave the gift to the Jews and when they denied Him Then He offered it also to the gentiles. I believe it is much the same. A spouse is a gift to be respected and appreciated not abused and overlooked. God can tear down what is wasted and mistreated.
Your position in this matter could set yourself up for a difficult future if you think," life" is easy.

The New Testament does allow for another reason for divorce, so why did you not mention it. In the meantime, Christians are people. Satan does not try to get the ones that are not Christian because they already belong to him. He uses all his time encourage Christians to sin so he can be happy.

There are some denominations that don't condone divorce. But that doesn't stop people from getting divorced. The church can tell people to not lie and not swear and not get divorced, but people still do it. People have personal choice and nothing is going to stop them but themselves. Christianity doesn't allow divorce but it doesn't have the legal authority to make people stay married. That is up to the courts.

It is simple, I believe that there are other reasons besides adultery to divorce. Ex. physical, emotional abuse. But the bottom line is the each one of us has to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. God will have the say on judgement day, so we have to stay close to God so he will lead us in our decision making.

The Bible did no longer exist whilst Jesus became around. you do no longer make any sense! maximum Christians understand that the Bible isn't a single seamless checklist, yet instead an assembly of 1000's of factors. a number of those are extra effective questionable than others, however the sensible observer today concludes that the Bible has countless issues. So, no, we don't assume of the Bible as fairly truthful, and no, we don't regard it as absolute reality. Christians are persons who've chosen to conform with the path illumined by skill of Jesus. via fact of this they're stated as Christians. Your thoughts approximately this do no longer likely have any result on the definition. you ought to do no longer ignore the sensible human beings as now no longer completely Christians. i do no longer assume you qualify as Christian via fact which you so relatively do no longer stick to the instructions of Jesus. the instructions of Jesus are no longer in reality what Jesus is meant to have stated, however the life he lived -- the way he interacted with adult adult males and girls. your self-righteous placed up needless to say shows which you does not totally draw close the genuine teachings of Jesus in the event that they hit you in the face. i'm sorry if I sound somewhat indignant, yet i'm so very ill of listening to the nonsense out of your type, who do no longer likely prefer to observe of what the Bible relatively calls us to do, and you pass and discover fault with others. Straighten out your very own life and actually study what Jesus ' life on the earth skill before than you presume to criticize others.
