with most adults it is fairly easy to tell males n female apart, the cere is blue and smooth in males, and brown and rough in females.
however, in younger birds (which make the better pets) The typical blue or brown colour will not have developed at this stage.
An adult female budgie's cere may have layers, The bottom layer might be pale blue. then maybe a whitish colour, and then the buff and brown shades are deposited on top of the white. Therefore, a very young baby female may show some pale blue on her cere, which some people take to be the colour of a male bird, but there will always be white as described above if the bird in question is indeed female.
an adult male's cere is not layered, a baby's cere turns from pink or purple to the bright blue most people know...but they have no white on the cere.

good luck...if you cant tell now, you may have to wait until the bird is alittle older...

im not exactly an expert, but from the white around the nostrils id guess female...(unless its just from the camera flash...the photo is alittle hard to tell from) lol dont hold me to it if im wrong...cos i very well could be..its harder for me to tell from a photo.

no longer plenty to pass by. there is an probability your chicken is a Double component spangle. it ought to instruct a sprint of alternative shade in its feathers close to the collar section. At this degree i may be announcing it relatively is in all probability a poultry. A nest feather poultry (toddler) has a bluish cere with whitish nostrils. As this chicken gets to commence maturing the cere will turn to a brownish shade. often around the three to 4 months previous. If it turns brown , it relatively is a girl. A double component spangle cocks cere will turn dark blue like standard colored male budgies. Albinos and Lutinos , Lacewings and Fallows have crimson eyes and the adult males cere turns to a fleshy crimson shade whilst mature. Harlequins or Recessive Pieds have an entire plum eye, and the cocks cere is likewise a fleshy crimson shade. All hens whilst getting into breeding condition will often have their cere turn brown. A poultry that's no longer in breeding condition ought to have a bluish white cere. desire this facilitates.

My male blue keet has very dark blue cere. Females have very light ceres, but so do all young keets. Mr. Peepers(my keet) had light blue til he was older & it became darker. How old is your budgie?

The little part above the beak? If it's blue it's a boy; brown is for girls, if I remember right.
