Why is it that the illegals can get help from the government but Americans have a hard time getting any help?

My husband has had several strokes and can not work. The Social Security Dr has said he has brain damage from the strokes and should get his disabilty. He has tried to get disability and has been turned down. But some of the illegals just try once and get all the help they want. Someone like my husband that has worked since he was 15 can not get anyplace. It is so stupid.

To be entitled to Social Security (or SSI) Disabilityyou have to prove both disability and NON-disability factors:
Non-disability factors are:
*That you are a U.S. Citizen or a legal alien. We have access to INS records, and we do verify allegation.
*That (For Social Security) you have worked and paid Social Security taxes such that you have earned 20 Quarters of Coverage in the 10 years before you file for SSDI (Note I did NOT say before you became disabled)
*If you apply for SSI DI you have to have income and resources below limits for the year and your State.

Disability Factors:
*For BOTH SSI DI and SSDI, your medical records must show that you are not capable of working and earning $800 or more per month, at ANY job (not just the one you used to do; and SSA does not have to guarantee that the jobs exist in your area, or that the employers would hire you.)
*The mental or physical disability must be expected to last at least a year, or end in death before that time.

The fact that you said, "The Social Security Dr. said", is an indication that you do not have good medical records. SSA does not use taxpayer money for Consultitave Examination unless the applicant does not have enough medical records. Consult Exam Dr's are given VERY specific instructions as to what tests to perform on an applicant. So the exams are not always very thorough.

When was the denial? within the past 60 days? If so, file an appeal within that 60 days. GET MEDICAL RECORDS. The denial letter will tell you exactly why you were denied. If the info SSA has is wrong (for example, they say you have not worked enough recently enough) get them the correct info with the appeal. In the appeal, address the exact wording. If the delial states that they were not able to get many medical records, contact the office you filed in, and ask to examine your file to see what records they have, and send in what they don't have, with the apppeal.

You can get an attorney. However, atty's are paid from any benefits you get - they get 25% of all back benefits, from anyone who is paid on the record.

I worked for SSA for 25 years. Illegal aliens are NOT awarded Social Security, SSI, (or other types of welfare) benefits.

Certainly there are those who have profited greatly from illegal immigration. The wealthy make a lot more money. Business owners and others in the upper income brackets can take advantage of lower wages across the board in many job classifications. The wealthy can insulate themselves from the negative effects. they can hire security to protect themselves from all the crime. They get in right away to see a doctor in a medical emergency. Their kids go to private schools. They live in gated communities. Their jobs are not being given away to someone that makes less then minimum wage. But for the average taxpaying citizen it's a little different. Greenspan is one of the biggest reasons that we are in our current economic mess and someone is actually stupid enough to listen to him?

That's right, I'm partially disabled and am only working part time and taking home $80.00 a week, I had to a apply for food stamps, they're giving me $10.00 a month, $10.00, meanwhile people from all over the world come here go to a hospital fall on the floor in the emergency room, get treated, sometime costing tens of thousands of dollars then get back on a plane and go back where they came from and stick us with the bill, what the hell is that!!!!!? and we put up with it, so who's the stupid ones.

I agree with you totally. And if you want examples of this happening, just look for yourself. Walk around a public school in any larger city with a decent population of immigrants and you will find plenty, the kids are in the school, getting free school supplies, free lunch, tutors so they are taught in their own language. That stuff costs money. If they or their parents are sick they get free health care from any hospital, because it goes against the oath to turn someone away who needs it. It makes me sick that a hard working American worker can't get the services he needs, yet this kind of stuff happens. I understand that the children need the help, but come on.

I agree with baserunner... Call your elected representative In YOUR STATE first,He or she may be able to help you resolve this travesty... If for some reason this Is not helping,get In contact with your CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE,and explain your situation. You have a VALID point here,and there are MOST DEFINITELY ILLEGALS getting WELFARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY,with the help of a myriad of phony I.D's and aliases.... Good Luck! I have read that all claims for SS for disability are turned down the first time, and getting a lawyer helps to expedite the case. I am sorry about your situation and hope you get the help you need soon.

I would send this same question to some of the media outlets. Send it to O'Reilly and some of the other big names in the industry, I think they will bite on this one. My GF has been trying for about 2 yrs now, same results as you. While we watch an endless parade of illegals get free healthcare and monthly checks.
I'm afraid nothing will be done until the American people rise up and stop it themselves.

It's wrong. We pay the taxes that support these programs and the people that should be here, and haven't paid into the system, get the benefits.

I'm really sorry to hear that, i think is really unfair. But you should kee trying cause is something that is his right!! On the other hand... I wish to know, Where did you get the information that "Some illegals just try once and get all the help they want" Do you have an official report? Do you really know more than 1 person that has done this? or you're just saying that because you hear it from someone else, maybe a rumor... or smth... Can you answer me?

I total agree with you..makes you wonder what this country is all about the rich keep getting richer. It 's as if they come here get Medicaid, etc. and the ones like you and I who live here all our lives have a hard time getting help as if we are asking for hand outs I feel i am entitled to help this is also my tax $$ i am asking for now that i need it the most (now i am sick).
