it's hard to believe that just a month ago i was excited about life, looking forward to my future and my career. now i am SO down and depressed that i don't care anymore, i just want to go to sleep and that's it. i have no ambition to do anything. i'm already on an anxiety/anti-depression medication, so is it all just hopeless for me? i'm about to give up, because even when things start to get better, i know i'll always end up back at this low point eventually.

Perhaps you're just going through a "down" moment? Everyone has them sometimes, where everything seems hopeless and you just want to lay down and sleep forever and the world sucks and you just want to stick a spork in its' eye. Your attitude is screwing you up. Yeah, you'll get back to that low point eventually. That's inevitable, that's true for everybody. When I'm depressed I'll be all sulky and "everything sucks" but it REALLY helps if I realize that "Yeah, this sucks @$$ right now, but it'll eventually pass and I'll get over it." I never feel any better until I get to that point. Don't think about the next time you'll be depressed, it'll make it worse, believe me, I've been there. I wish you all the best and I hope I didn't sound too harsh....

P.S, Also, whatever meds you are taking, (any meds, not just the anti-depressants,) may be messing with you until your system gets used to them. My dad is on at least 13 medications and everytime he switches or gets a new one he acts really weird for a while, each one affects him differently.

You need to talk a therapist or physician about how you are feeling. If you are already on medication your doc may need to change the med that you are on so it works better for you. There are several different meds out there to try and in some cases you may need to take more than one med at the same time but you can only know that after talking to your doc. Don't give up, it can and will get better.

you sound like you might suffer from bipolar. well, i hope i can help you because i do too.

what you should do is tell yourself that you are not going to let your illness stop you from doing the things you want to do with your life and with life on a daily basis. it took me a long time to accept invitations from my friends like going to the movies because i was so depressed i didn't want to be seen.
what you have to do is keep looking forward to life. you have to care and make yourself get outof the bed because the longer you stay in bed, you'll start to develop PHYSICAL pains (if you don't have them already). trust me and please listen to what i am telling you.
please please please don't give up on yourself and life. you may be right: things may always LOOK LIKE they won't get better, but as long as you give in to that feeling, they for sure won't get better.
and no,things aren't hopeless for you. take me for example, i've suffered from manic depression ever since i was 5 years old and it got worse when i turned 12 and 13 and i never got professional help until i was 17. so i was i mental and physical wreck. as soon as i got on medication, i started noticing my moods and feelings getting better. even though sometimes i still have low times, they aren't as low as they are without medication.
so yes, EVERYBODY in the entire world is gonna have low points and even really low points, but don't let that stop you from living your life. your life is worth living because there has to be at least 1 person who would really hate to see you die. so if you ever think about suicide, please just listen to what i've written here.
by the way, i am 18.

i know how you feel. i had a nervous breakdown at a young age, couldnt function while suffering from a mental illness, recovered with therapy only for it to happen again and even stronger. we can talk about this if u want, just email me. im not gonna be the one to give u the same generic dont give up speech. i really dont care to continue myself and knowing how difficult and impossible it will be to recover i think itll be better to quit. im looking for advice and a way to quit so if u are, just talk to me. Thanks.

Call your therapist now. You need to get your medication changed. Don't keep this to yourself. They can't help you if you do.

Please go to a Mental Health Counselor. You won't regret it. Make sure you find the right one.
