He was whipped with a barbed lash, had a crown of thorns shoved on his head, impaled by a spear, and hung on a cross, according to the Bible. But his life before that didn't appear to be too terribly rough. I hear stories all the time about people being tortured and mutilated their entire lives. So what's the big deal?

I'm not saying that I would enjoy it or that it was not unpleasant, idiots. My point is that people suffer more than that all the time, all over the world. SO what's the big whup about what Jesus went through? Try to focus, I know it's hard.

You people who tried to explain why it was so horrible failed miserably. You people are idiots. You obviously are gifted when it comes to picking and choosing what parts of an argument you want to hear, and what parts you simply ignore.

It's not a big deal - women go through more than that during childbirth. It also wasn't special - crucifixion was a common punishment.

For starters, you need to understand what happened to Him from a medical perspective, it is too long to put here so I will include a link to where this description may be read. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread83973/pg1
Reading this, hopefully you might begin to understand what it was that He went through on our behalf. If going through a Roman flogging and then a crucifixion wasn't enough, Jesus had to become the sacrifice for our sins. This means that he had to take upon Himself all sin. As God detests all sin, Jesus, for the first time in all of eternity becomes separated from the presence of God. We cannot even begin to imagine the pain that must have caused Him. Jesus, on the day of His death suffered more than anyone else ever has or ever will. His suffering was not merely physical but emotional and spiritual in ways that we will never know or understand. So the big deal is He chose to go through all of this for you. Even though He knew you would stand here today and say "what's the big deal with the suffering He went through?" He still chose to go through this for you. If you haven't seen The Passion of the Christ then I would suggest you do and do so while keeping in mind that what He did, He did for you and for all Mankind.

when they say that no one suffered the way hid did its not only because of his phyisical beating, its because of the spiritual things he was bringing upon himself than. He took on the sins of the entire world at that point....a huge burden to carry and if he was all man and all God it makes sense that his physical body couldn't handle it. And yes it was very traumatic...he was whipped so bad his own mother couldn't recognize him.....thats bad

If it was at least as physically painful as what Jesus went through, how would they have survived, and that their whole life? But the point of his death was to save you from your sins, He being an acceptable substitute instead of you.

Yes. It was beyond anything we can imagine. The physical was only part of it, the spiritual was very important. He bore the pain and punishment for all the sins of every one who would ever be born, He endured the pain of Hell, for you, and for me.

I've got a sure fire way to answer this question. I would be happy to repeat every one of the acts he went through on you. Then you can tell me. Deal?

You would have to follow in His shoes to understand all the trauma He endured as is the case with understanding anyone's personal struggles.
