You may take expired vitamins pills however there is no guarantee if their potency remain the same- they could be less potent or can be no longer effective.
If you discovered that your pills were left open and exposed to sunlight, air and heat, it probably lost its potency even if not yet expired.So better not to take as well.
If you are aware that your pills are kept properly in an air-tight container then you could probably give them a try even expired. However if you noticed any changes in the color or smell of the pill, better to get rid of them.
For safety and best efficacy it would be better to take a well kept unexpired pills and with the doctor's advice.
