Prophethood is not unknown to heavenly revealed religions, such as Judaism and Christianity. In Islam, however, it has a special status and significance.
According to Islam, Allah created man for a noble purpose: to worship Him and lead a virtuous life based on His teachings and guidance. How would man know his role and the purpose of his existence unless he received clear and practical instructions of what Allah wants him to do? Here comes the need for prophethood. Thus Allah has chosen from every nation at least one prophet to convey His Message to people.
One might ask, how were the prophets chosen and who were entitled to this great honor?
Prophethood is Allah's blessing and favor that He may bestow on whom He wills.

Are we to assume that only men exist, other then women as images?
As a straight woman and sick and tired of all the crap there is already, absolutely not.
Now if you made "god" some hot guy in something skimpy...I might look longer but I'd still not believe. Although it might make me wish he was real... lol

I don't think anyone seriously interested in saving their soul would care if GOD & her prophets wore bathing suits, do you?
God made Adam & Eve and dropped them in Eden, I don't recall reading about her building them an Old Navy store next to the apple tree to go shopping...
Certainly by now if the lord comes back as a woman to us meer mortals we can handle the shock of the female form?
