This seems to be typical for an evangelical Christian that has any power.
Most evangelicals are complete crooks.

Did Oral's son ever go back any of the money he embezzled? i imagine no longer. i imagine there is something dumb about giving funds for loose to an institute that enable itself be robbed and did no longer something to recuperate its losses. O.R.U. did not even hardship laying expenses.

Christian Evangelicals aren't exactly known for their strong ethics. Whatever their strong point is, it surely has nothing to do with ethics or morality.
