I like doing math problems, I find physics interesting though I am better at numbers, I like to write code, I don't like to work with hardware. I am not a computer expert. I would like to teach someday.

To be honest, I don't know what the "right" major for me is, but based on all the information I have given you, What major combines all those things? Thanks for helping me decide!

since you like to write code then Computer Science is it but that's not really an engineering major. i would say computer engineering but that combines hardware and you don't like that. so i would say that metallurgical engineering is the right fit for you.

Why not a degree in mathematics, of course to have the same level of pay as an engineer you would have to go for your graduate degree afterwords. At national labs mathematicians do extensive computer programing.
