I agree with Lee, although you probably don't need a distributor. Also, those cars have a tendency to leak oil in the valley between the two cam housings. The oil tends to flow into the spark plug recesses, and the oil shorts the fire to ground, causing a misfire. This is a real possibility. But what you are describing definitely sounds like a misfire under load, any of what we are describing could cause that.

Check that you are shifting it correctly, starting out in 3rd gear would shake the car. It could also be moisture in the cap, open and clean with paper towel, look at the condition, is it burned??? Perhaps you recently had the car through a big puddle and moisture built up in the cap or in the plug wells... Dry and Clean, then start replacing what looks to be burned or very old. Good Luck

Get new spark plugs, wire,distrubuter,air filter,cap,rotor (tune up)
