Usually asked about staff management. Ways to motivate staff (impossible in sportsworld) and performance management. Remember 3 strikes then take to disciplibnary procedure.

Performance figures. Christmas usually busiest period (was in WH Smiths). Understand the need to work towards targets.

What are your thoughts on customer service - treat people like you want to be treated (trust me). What would you do to improve in store applying for.

Usually ask how you would improve store. Don't get too complictaed just show you have some ideas.

Give good examples of problem solving you have done as that will be mostly what you job will entail.

Hope that helps, good luck.

EDIT

Appear calm, confident and professional. Don't appear to easy to please.

Dress for success and be confident. Assure them that you are looking for a very long term position. You have an aptitude for leadership and customer service that you want to develop. Since you are sports-minded and posess the aforementioned talents, you are a natural. Assure them that you are 100% interested in a long retail career and will put your all into it. Let them know you mean business, no fooling around. You have a good sense of humor so as not to take yourself too seriously. You be this person and you are a shoe-in.

They are looking for someone who can do the job. Just relax and be yourself and if you are that person then it will come through. They expect you to be nervous so don't worry about that. If you pretend to be someone your not they either know that or if you get the job it will quickly become obvious that your the wrong person and you wont last.
Oh and don't pretend you know something when you don't knowledge is easily learned once you are in the job.

Be arranged. do no longer basically rehearse your solutions. Have your person record of questions. locate out what they are going to assume from you as an AM. If the area is salaried, no longer hourly, locate out what extra time is envisioned, and if there's a cap on extra time. you do no longer desire to finally end up working 60-hour weeks devoid of reimbursement. locate out approximately added coaching you ought to have the flexibility to get which will help prepare you for shifting as much as GM later. quite a few agencies grant seminars and management classes, or might grant college learn scholarships or different monetary help classes for workers who're taking classes to strengthen their activity-suitable skills. be specific and ask any questions you are able to think of of, and ask who to touch in case you think of of something later. Ask how quickly they are going to be creating a determination, and in the event that they are going to notify you regardless of whether or no longer you're chosen. (in the event that they do call and additionally you're no longer chosen, be gracious approximately it, yet ask in the event that they are going to save you in recommendations for the subsequent beginning and what you're able to do to strengthen your advertising skill). reliable success!
