Understanding that Jesus is for losers, and that I'm a loser.

I know that there is very little that I have control over...God controls everything. Being humble means understanding that and submitting to letting God work in my life.

The most humble person I know is completely self-sacrificing, putting another's needs before his/her own. Loving everyone despite their station in life, in fact quite the opposite...the lower the station, the more love. But still, love for all.

The most humble person I know is Jesus.

Great question.

Humility is being a person that believes that they are on the same playing field as everyone else. they are not better than anyone else and they treat others with fairness and justice. It is basically being a good person.

I don't really know any humble people. Even I believe I am better than most other people.

Humility is submission without pride. I respect and love God with humility and am submissive to his spirit.

My mother is the most humble person that I know. She is extremely religious and believes in her faith without wavering. I do not agree with her religious beliefs, but I respect her. There are times when I have seen her be prideful when it comes to her religious beliefs. So much so, that she has even changed churches if she doesn't agree with the doctrine or beliefs of others that are being expressed within the church.

humility first of all is not- putting yourself down, and having a low self-esteem like some people think. True humility is first given up the demands to have your way- giving your life to God, and allowing Him to direct your path, and then with others, it is looking to the good of others above yourself. There is a strength to meekness and humility that a lot of people do not recognize.

I would define humility is placing others above yourself. My relationship to God is constantly teaching me to love others and through God's love place myself in service of others. My Mother is the most humble person I know. She strives to serve others in all she does. She is a waitress so she has lots of practice but it goes beyond that. She sits with kids in from SS and listens and ecourages them to read the Bible as they want and takes them to lunch when they reach the goal set. I see so many people ooh and aah over the kids but take very little time from their more important adult conversations. A lady from our church started a Bible study and asked several other ladies who would be good to lead some of the small groups. Most said my mother and yet she doesn't understand why. I admire her greatly and try to follow her example in always striving for a closer relationship with Jesus.

essence is not feeling better or more important than others.
strangely enough humble persons have , in the eyes of others, no reason to be humble. humble persons are better than the average persons,

humble is for instance A. Einstein who did what he did because 'he could stand on the shoulders of others'.

the ordinary man in the street who is very very average and not so talented can be humble as well , but we dont say he is. ( unless he has soemthing really special )

Humility is often equated to be humble but this is a small part of humility.

The state of humility is to have a state of mind that is in proportion. This recognition of a person's relationship with God and others.

This is seeing truth about one's self and the world about.

This is why Paul stated that being respectful to one's parents is part of humility. Recognizing the nature of the relationship of parent to child. And in recognizing this it is a reflection of being able to see the "subordinate" position we have to God Almighty and His son Jesus.

God > Jesus > people

Parents > child

A person may be humble and even have a wisdom but does not have humility without God Almighty. Through the Holy Spirit a person gains true wisdom which is true humility.

Only with God!

Humility has nothing to do with most dictionary definitions. These do not reflect the thinking of God.

Though the antonyms definitely are states removed from God's will.

Humility - correct proportion, truth, and state of mind with the ability to recognize these qualities.

A person is able to recognize their own strengths and weaknesses.

A person is able to recognize strengths and weaknesses in others without the negative qualities of judgment.

Each person that belongs to God is on their own path to maturity (perfect).

I have several friends that have humility but they do not recognize this fully themselves. They "fess" up to being human and making mistakes. They know they are on a path of growth - that is humility! One day I stated, ribbing, to a friend that he was showing signs of humility. He was uncomfortable and I felt awkward with him. We had a good talk about our personal walks with God.

Humility is all about perspective and wisdom.
Proverbs says to "number our days" meaning
we must realize our limitation and true position
in life - that is humbling in a true sense.
Human reasoning, rationality, and knowledge are
very limited when we look at them closely.
Jesus said that if you claim to be wise (and/or
without sin), you automatically label yourself to be
a fool (and sinner).
God also said that if you humble yourself, He
will lift you up (and show you great things that
you did not know before)
So, we should constantly humble ourselves and
be sincere - it is the only way to get anywhere
in life and in God!
God "clothes us in righteousness"
It is about God, not us.
God purifies us, we don't purify ourselves!
Though, being humble does not mean we
are not confident about anything!
We can indeed be confident in things we
know (truth sets free), knowing that it is all
God's gift - all of our abilities as well as
God's mercy and grace on our lives is God's gift!
God's love and truth brings freedom.
And God's love and truth comes to us by humbeling
ourselves - so humbeling brings freedom in God!
So, it really is about having things in perspective
and being thankful towards God.
Jesus said that to be great in God's kingdom,
means to be the servant of all - to humble
oneself as Jesus did!
The most humble person is, of course Jesus who
washed the disciples feet and took our penalty and
died on the cross as a criminal for us though he
did nothing wrong!

Humility is to think of yourself equal to all of your fellow men. Not higher or lower, you view all of God's children as simply that: a cherished child of God.

Humble people are very kind and friendly, they don't judge people (but they do judge situations) They are very happy with who they are and extremely tolerant and forgiving because they realize that none of us are perfect so we might as well respect everybody with thier flaws.

Recognizing everyone as God's children is a very effective way to gain humility. This also brings into play that you recognize yourself as God's child, which causes you to realize that he has your best intentions at heart making you moldable because you are willing to listen to his suggestions for improvement

The word humility comes from "humus" - of the ground. One who is grounded is humble. They needn't be Mother Teresa or St. Francis but are accepting what life presents and are willing to learn new things.
Being humble is my life pursuit, for it is the way of happiness.
