CJ, nowhere did she say "written"
as for the actual question, I think what the naysayers are trying to say is how the "catholic church goes against the bible"(of course if they did their research they wouldn't think that)
the ironic thing is how 7 books were removed during the Reformation by protestants

Excellent point. The Catholics can't change the Bible because they put it together... mostly by vote, which places doubt on it being "inspired", for me anyway. But they view it as changed because of a few things. One is the 10 commandments... which I haven't looked into in depth so can't tell exactly what was changed (I gave up on searching about the time I got to this - it just seemed worthless to waste my time on it anymore). But they see the Catholics using a Bible which has the Apocrypha in it and think they "changed" it. What they don't realize is that the Protestants took the Apocrypha out and made their own Bible without it. The problem with this is... The Apocrypha is not viewed as "Inspired" but books which help with Historical references, especially to things such as Hannakah (spelling? it varies with this word) - mainly in the Macabees. Tobit isn't considered "inspired" but Inspiring as it shows a story of faith. I didn't get into too much of the other books of the Apocrypha so, again, can't go in depth on those.
But one thing, I wouldn't consider the "Church" organized even then. It wasn't very organized during the RCC's 1500 yr reign over Europe either... it was a Tyranny, as far as I can tell and the only thing organized about it was the fact that it was fear-driven, rather than a "light in the darkness".

i'm pagan and i fall all the time, cj, but i still don't love the catholic church or hate christianity; i'm completely indifferent to both as far as religion is concerned [politics is a whole other thing]. i also don't hate jesus, as it is difficult to hate a fictional proto-hippie. maybe all the falling cracked my skull and opened my mind...
...maybe you should give it a try, honey.
as for changing the bible, wouldn't some of the liberal popes have taken out some of the bad parts? for that matter, wouldn't many of the corrupt popes have taken out the inconvenient parts? it just don't add up.

The only "change" the Roman Catholics have made is in calling the portion of the Old Testament which the Protestants call "Apocrypha" by the term "Deutero-Canonical". Interestingly enough, the Orthodox Christians have never used either term.
Basically, to the Orthodox, "once canonical, always canonical"...... which really puts paid to Sola Scriptura as the Protestants who swear by it do not even USE the complete Christian Bible.......

Actually, the Apocrypha, those books found in the Catholic Bibles, were also in the Septuagint. It was the OT version that the early church relied upon, so it seems that the Protestant Bible is the one that has been changed.

YAY!
Intelligent, intellectual, researched point - the ONLY point here.
But you know he won't accept that, because it's "Not written in the bible" - I guess the council forgot to put in a foreword.
History doesn't count for our boy here.
EDIT - CJ- OH NO - written by Jews! Apparently you conveniently forgot that Jesus HIMSELF was a JEW! A Rabbi, no less! One of their holy men!! Now what are you going to do!
Mark A- Second excellent, educated point here- thank you!

The Bible was never meant to be anything other than a reflection of diverse people's experience of God. It is a book about others' faith that encourages us to develop our own. Anyone who takes it as the literal word of God is going to come unstuck. Faith is the key.

The Bible was written by JEWS, not catholics. Read a Bible someday and figure that out. But you prefer catholic "revisionist history".
But this is the greatest form of evidence I have that the catholics are dead wrong, from their false gospel that leads to eternal hell to their false doctrines across the board: DEFENDED BY ATHEISTS AND PAGANS.
Jesus said the truth is hated by the world. Atheists and pagans hate Him and the truth, and all who know Him and the truth. Catholicism has more atheist and pagan defenders of it, than catholic ones.
The world loves its own. Catholics are not saved, but are a part of the fallen pagan world. That's why atheists and pagans defend them. But Jesus said in the Bible, the truth will be hated by the world. That's why pagans and atheists love catholicism, but hate the truth of Christianity as the Bible defines it.
