Do any of you Chrisitans like the humour in it? Do you gain any insights from it?

Do any of you atheists think that you are actually making people think more about the pitfalls of organized religion by preaching to the converted? Are you just further polarizing the endless religious debate by making fun of something that people take really seriously?

Or is it all just harmless meaningless fun on a very big scale?

I think you hit the nail on the head when u said "Are you just further polarizing the endless religious debate by making fun of something that people take really seriously?

Its extremely easy to polarize something that people strongly believe in to create a reaction. This is not a new original concept and has and will be continued to be used as a naive political weapon. This type of political or religious statement does nothing to cause comprehension of any type, in fact political polarization contrary to its common aim has shown on many occasions to be fruitless, and do nothing but cause strengthening its opposition. By at least causing anger. Which as a psychological term doesn't denote weakness, but can cause fortification.

Religion is something people take seriously and this FSM is nothing but a old concept being played out by people using student politics that lack sophistication and critical judgment, so because of this will rarely equates to anything.

The FSM or 'pastafarian' movement performs an important service, which is to arbitrarily adopt the characteristics of popular religion to show how ridiculous it is. How anyone can take religion seriously and derive personal meaning from it is beyond me. I come here to R&S largely in an attempt to understand and interact with the religious mind, but I still really don't understand.
