I am a Christian and I have a close friend who is an atheist. I constantly worry about her salvation, although she doesn't want to hear it. She is 85 years old, and I am horribly afraid that she will leave this life unsaved. But, I have told her my feelings many times. Finally, she asked me not to mention it any more. So, I have done all I can do except praying for her, which I do daily.

Absolutely!!!!!!!!! My best friend is an atheist! This site just makes it seem like theres some sort of war between christianity and atheism, when it's really not like that for most people. People don't go up to each other in person and start throwing insults at each other based on their beliefs. In fact, I rarely even discuss my faith and beliefs with others. You don't have to have the same beliefs as someone to be friends with them. Real friends accept each other for who they are and what they believe. I don't call my best friend a hater that's going to hell and he doesn't call me delusional. You need to be able see past the whole christianity vs. atheism thing.

Sure, as long as they neither overtly tries to change the other. Of course, a true christian will at least be praying for his atheist friend, while the atheist won't be praying for the christian.

They can, but probably not deep, long-lasting friends. Because the most important thing in their respective lives is different. As each grows closer to his most-important-thing, he grows farther from his friend. For example, if I had an atheist friend, most likely he would not share my morals. So if he was always lying or stealing or having illicit sex with men or women, I would not want to hang around him very much, because I don't want to be tempted to commit those sins. By the same token, he will not be interested in my spiritual reading or attending religious lectures or worship services.

Of course an atheist and a Christian can be true friends, as long as they refrain from discussing religion. ...or if they are able to agree to disagree.

To the better of my potential, sure I did. i replaced into born right into a Christian kinfolk and studied the Bible for until eventually my early youth, and that i presumed it replaced into the actuality. i did not see something incorrect with it, my mothers and dads and older sister seen it actuality, and maximum of my acquaintances have been in church so as that throughout the time of addition they seen it authentic. I prayed frequently and legitimately concept at cases that there replaced into some thing obtainable that replaced into listening to me, and that i presumed this replaced into the God i presumed in. i all started questioning my faith as quickly as I moved to a various state and had an fullyyt new set of acquaintances in extreme college. After a at a similar time as, i desperate to alter into agnostic as I felt i did not comprehend what to believe and that i could not somewhat locate out. After that i ultimately grew to alter into atheist as I studied faith further and further and observed its result on people. As for my mind's eye as a new child, i glance back and ask your self why i replaced into so keen to credit an emotional feeling to God, as quickly as I can get the comparable feeling of convenience from yet another perceived source of love. the reason i will by no potential settle for faith lower back is via the fact i comprehend Christianity some distance too nicely, and the folk i comprehend who've matured of their faith willingly admit that each and every physique they have is faith, not something extra. faith itself will become very needless to say guy-made while it tries to alter into something extra advantageous than hassle-free concept devoid of info.
