Will her second heat be at about the same interval? Our female dachsund's first heat was at 8 months....will her next heat be about 8 months later?

All female dogs, regardless of their breed, will come into season around every six to seven months after their first season. Good for you for answering those ignorant people demanding that you get her spayed! Your dead right on that one, its your business, got nothing to do with anyone else. Tin pot dictators!!! If you do let her have a litter, i bet they'll be beautiful, as all pups are! Good luck.

Your dog's second heat might not necessarily be at the same interval, but somewhere in that range. 6-8 months is usual for small dogs like dachshunds.
Don't you love those hot dogs! We have two!
P.S. Ignore the "spay nazis." They just can't seem to answer a simple question without going on a tirade and passing judgment. Yahoo Answers is supposed to be helpful - not a forum for animal wackos to push their agenda in others faces.

Usually a female dog will go into heat approximately every 6 months.

The time a female will go into the first time all differs with the breeds, however it is same for all breeds after that. She will be coming into her second heat cycle six months after her first and every six months thereafter.

That doesn't have anything to do with it. They usually come in heat about every 6-8 months.

my golden had about 2 a year. the smell is aweful isnt it. anyway they are usually about the same interval. But i think they are about 6 months apart.

Mine come twice a year, six months interval. It's a good time to spay your little girl now. It's good for her.
