For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

Luckily, there is no evidence that the Hebrews were ever in egypt, and thus no evidence that the plagues or exodus ever happened.

The bondage was indeed severe if we are to believe the account in the non-Biblical Book of Jasher, for it explains that if an Israelite did not complete his tally of bricks in building his assigned portion for the day, the taskmasters would go to his wife, pull away her baby to push it into the wall whereupon they forced the weeping father to spread the mortar upon it. The account states "And the number of all the children killed in the building was two hundred and seventy, some whom they had built upon instead of the bricks which had been left deficient by their fathers, and some whom they had drawn out dead from the building."

Maybe Moses was just telling a fib when he said he was talking with god. Perhaps he just needed to motivate his people to go and murder some babies and made that whole story up. He was the only one that was "talking" to this Lord fellow, right.

Some of the believers need to read the story more closely. Pharoah agreed to let the Hebrews go. God 'hardened' his heart and changed his mind for him.

God gave the Egyptians many , many chances to soften their heart toward Him- many miraculous things were shown them, however they hardened their hearts toward Him, disobeying God is not a good thing- God is God and we are not. How would have you responded to God, if He did many miracles in your sight and you still did not want the Israelites to escape. Mercy would have been found , by the Egyptians as well, however the holiness and justice of God is there as well- Which would you rather see, His mercy or justice?

A: United States

The kind of God that can do so if He so pleases because He is God. We are to conform to God, not the other way around.

The Egyptians did not believe in their god, so I suppose their lives were not as valuable, no matter if they were loving parents or honest people.

He did it because the Egyptians were being disobedient...and God warned Pharaoh thru Moses, but he was being stubborn and resisted...and that's what happens when you ignore the voice of God...
