I have a cold and a friend of mine had told me that if I went outside and sweated i.e. running, playing sports, with the cold would get me sweating and would get the cold out of me faster. Is that true?

That is completely false. When you have a cold the best thing to do is rest. You will even recover quicker from your cold. The reason is because when you have a cold it is because your immune system has been broken down and is fighting to rid the virus.

When you exercise you are placing more stress on your immune system and thus breaking it down even further which will make you more susceptible to getting even more sick or prolong your cold. Not to mention make you feel crummy.

If you have a feaver then know its not good to sweat. If you got a cold with no feaver then take a hot bath, put some vicks vapper rum on your chest, sholders, behind your knees and put on some sweats and go to sleep. You'll sweat it all out.

No, I think maybe he might have been thinking of when you have a fever it is the bodies way of fighting a virus.

When you have a cold it just has to take it's course which is about 7-14 days. You should rest so your body can fight it.

Nope a cold is going to last 7 to 10 days no matter what you do. Tried that myself it didn't work.. Also tried the steam room routine it didn't work either.
