Frontline. It's so cool cuz if your dog actually has any...when you put it on, you can actually see the fleas falling off....so just be prepared to clean it up ; )

And keep the dog in an area that you can easily clean up for at least a day. Carpets not advisable.

Yup, Frontline Plus is the number one flea treatment at the moment because it kills flea eggs and pupae as well as the adult fleas, and it works for up to two months on dogs. You just have to make sure you get it on the dog's skin, not his fur.

As a rule of thumb, anything available from a store is not going to work because stores are not allowed to sell the proper drugs, so general sale stuff is just general pesticide that does not work on fleas. Same goes for garlic - not really good for dogs, so don't.

Frontline Plus works good plus it will keep your pet flea free for 30 days. Just apply it 2 days before a bath or at least 2 days after a bath. The only bad part is it can take 24 to 48 hrs to work, so call your vet and ask if they sell Capstar it is a tablet that you give that starts a 1/2 hour after you give it, but it only works for 24 hours.

I've found that advantage works the best for my dog. We've had it on her since we got her at 3 months old and never found a flea on her. And we live in an area where the fleas infest every year and the neighbor doesn't believe in the "luxury" of flea control for her outdoor dogs. :(

If she already has alot of fleas on her i recommend a pill called Capstar that will kill every flea and tick on her within an hour then Frontline Plus once a month. Your vet can provide both of these and they are relatively inexpensive.

stuff like flea bath soap, flea sprays, dips, and the spot treatments, or a waste of time, the flea get back on them, after they are dry. Start putting garlic in their wet dog food, or use garlic suppluments pills (human or vet prescr.) The garlic goes to the blood stream, fleas dont like garlic with their blood....I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, the only time I have trouble with flea and/or ticks is in the winter time.

Also I heard that if you get a bottle of peppermint oil, real peppermint oil, and put about 2 to 3 drops in everly corner in your house, you wont have fleas in the house.I havent tried it yet. Hopefully it works for you....

Frontline Plus is really good. It work for a month and is even water proof. Advantage is also good, but it's not water proof. So everytime you bathe your pup you are rinsing off the chemicals.

For a shampoo, I would use ectokyl. It's found at a vet clinic.

I only use natural products. A company called Buck Mountain Botanicals makes a product called Parasite Dust. It's made from diatom flour, which removes the water from parasites, and neem, (which has a VERY broad use) containing a chemical that also kills them. It's a very safe product for you, your dog, and the environment.
