Don't worry about being drafted. We will not have a draft in this country for at least the next 4 years. It would be political suicide for any one to institute the draft.

At least not unless we are attacked again.

You do still have to register for the draft upon your 18th birthday though.

If another attack like 911 happens, the draft will come back. Right now there is no draft though I believe you may if male, still be required to register with the Selective Service Board when you turn 18. The involuntary draft ended whenever the military services became an all volunteer force sometime after the Vietnam War ended in 1975. It went from a draft system with deferments to a Lottery system with no deferments in 1969. I was put into the lottery pot in 1969. I lost my S-2 deferment when I was put into the Lottery system. The lottery system was a draft system that was based on assigning a draft number between 1 and 366 based on your birthdate. (March 29th was included) My # was 247 out of 366 in the 1st year of the lottery. As I recall that year in 1969 the draft did not go beyond the birthdate corresponding to the 120th # picked. The next year I would have been assigned based on my birthday the 1st # out of 366. I was lucky, some of my college friends were not!

sidenote: (In my opinion, the occupation of Iraq, the so called Iraq War is as illegal and immoral as the Vietnam War was and we got into both of them on the basis of lies and propaganda).

The Cold War is over, democracy and capitalism have won ,and despite the real threat of devastating terrorism, we should scale down the military. We, the US, should never nuke anyone ever again unless someone nukes us and we know who nuked us with absolute certitude.

There currently is no draft in the U.S.A., though you must register with the Seective Service if you are male and 18 yers old.

The draft was abolished in April 1973 when the USA went with an all volunteer military.

i've got faith that maximum activities look like relaxing, yet are fairly psychological video games. In professional activities, the enjoying container is point - all of us's solid, so it fairly is the suggestions, the psychy that extremely counts once you're up there. college teaches you to apply your suggestions. It teaches you in looking information, ingest it and then use it. All of those are sensible skills for activities of any point and quite professional. yet another ingredient is the adulthood of the gamers. college grants time to around out as a man or woman. to confirm who you're a splash extra so as that when repute and funds come, you do not abuse it and your self with it. to boot, you would be fiddling with adult males and gals who're lots older than you. college is a place to learn perception, know-how and archives once you're wating to get closer them. it is likewise a start to a occupation because of the fact execs do merely not final that long and if an harm occurs (and it will) you in elementary terms have a 365 days of faculty left to get a life.
