There is a saying: Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
It seems to me that we could have avoided World War Two, the Holocaust, and all that destruction, if someone would have had the balls to launch a pre-emptive strike on Hitler in ’37 or ’38 while he was still pretty weak. Instead, we had Europeans with their “negotiations” and “diplomacy”, with Neville Chamberlain saying “Peace in our time”.

So why does everyone now despise Bush for doing that very thing? People howl and moan about “pre-emptive” war? Let’s not forget that Saddam used WMD’s on his own people and on the Iranians. And for you college kids, don’t forget that in the 80’s the Israelis bombed a nuclear plant in Iraq because Saddam WAS trying to develop a nuke. (I hope they bomb the Iranian plant next.)

So, I believe that we should topple Iran and Syria next ( albeit a little more efficiently that we have done in Iraq). Unlike the Soviets, the Islamo-fascists WILL use a nuke if they get one. (At least you could count on the Russkies to use a little common sense in that regard.) We need to squash ALL states that sympathize with these murderers. Does anybody agree with me?

I agree. With the safety of Western Civilization at risk, best safe than sorry.

The Holocaust targeted Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, and many other groups. The group which suffered the highest "extermination rate" was actually the European Gypsies; people beside those of the Jewish Faith can talk about the Holocaust. The lesson learned from the "Appeasement Period" with Hitler prior to the invasion of Poland is not learned and will never be learned by people that refuse to look at the world as it is. There is evil people, they will not turn the other cheek and if you turn yours they will just hit you again harder. A bully, whether an individual or a natio/national leader will not stop until they either have what they want (which will grow as they get what they started after)or they are stopped by some one. The radical Islamist have one goal and they have said it more then once-they want a world dominated and controlled by the radical brand of Islam they believe in; even the other brands of the Muslim faith is not safe from them. In Mien Kampf Hitler write what he would do when he came to power but no one listened or believed he would actually do it-they were wrong and when he started doing it they just caved in and he went after more until the war was started.

By adopting your methods we would be no better than becoming like Adolf Hitler.

And further for your education pre 1937 / 1938 no Allied country was in a position to launch a preemptive strike against Germany, even the Russians under Stalin baulked at that idea.

Before you post you should try doing some basic old fashioned research, you would be surprised at the information out there.

Its also not wise to try and bend what is happening today to try and fit in line with things that happened over 60 years ago, as it invariably never fits.

There are a lot of parallels. Unfortunately you can never prove what you avoided because of preemptive action.
If Chamberlain invaded Germany in 37 & killed Hitler, no one would have ever known what a monster he would have become and Chamberlain would have been labeled a war monger.
The only way the seriousness of the threat from radical Islam can be proven (to some people, not me), is if we do nothing and in 5 years a handful of nuclear warheads are detonated in several US metropolis's by some terrorist organization with no clear ties to any country. Unfortunately, that's what we may be heading towards.

Keep going and we could learn a lesson from Crazy Horse, Genghis Khan, William the Conquerer, Hannibal and Napoleon.
It's all very interesting,I sincerfely mean that, but so much is "if " "if" "If".
and in the end , if the dog wouldn't have stopped to take a p$$$ he would have caught the rabbit.
George Bush was president on and after 9-11. We know what he did. What anyone else would have done is purely a matter of opinion.

Are going to come with me when I'm sent or are you just sayin "someone" should go?

It's really easy to look at something in hindsight and judge a situation. History is only a guide, and keep in mind it is usually the unexpected that it is made up of.

Comparing Hitler's Germany in 1938 to Saddam's Iraq in 2003 is absurd.-- We had Saddam bottled up in Iraq, he was no threat to his neighbors -- none of them even joined our "coalition".
