I have no problem with legal immigration. If someone wants to come into the country LEGALLY, pay their taxes, and become a productive member of society I say welcome. However, I do have a problem with people moving into this country and expecting me to change to accomodate them. The link is for an article in the Chicago Sun-Times about a school that had to take JELLO off it's menu because someone was offended, and now has to change it's traditional holiday celebrations. When does it end?

"WE" as in those of us who have been born and raised here. Look, if someone wants to come over LEGALLY and bring their traditions with them, I am good with that. But don't make the rest of us give up our American traditions. If you don't like something, say the Halloween parade at the school or a visit from Santa, then don't participate. Don't take it away from the majority of kids who DO participate.

Showtunes, this is only one of the articles. I was at the school when this happened. Elizabeth was shouting and cursing. She NEVER mentioned anything about having all of the holidays celebrated until she figured out that there was going to be an uproar over her complaints. On Tuesday this past week there was a school board meeting for the district, and she showed up and basically called everyone there a racist, but when the cameras were on she acted sweet as pie. This is only ONE example. Look at Sears or Home Depot the next time you go in there. Every sign in every department is in English and Spanish. You have to press one to have your bank talk to you in English. They don't want our kids to pray in CATHOLIC school because the Muslims that attend there are offended. It is a school, and you can't exclude them if they pass the criteria and pay the tuition, it is against the law. Again I ask, where does it end.

it doesnt end because some crybaby always has to whine "what about me???"In my daughters school, halloween is now harvest day, christmas is now the Holidays, valentines day is now friendship day, easter is now spring fest.WTF!? this is a democracy, that means majority rules. unfortunately the majority can go to hell because a few in the minority cant live and let live. im sorry youre buddhist, muslim, french, asian, gemini, scorpio, but there are only so many holidays, and the MAJORITY of americans particip[ate and celebrate certain events and holidays, if you want to live here and becoma an american either participate or dont, but dont make us change our culture because it doesnt include yours. last time i checked when you come to this country you dont have to check your beliefs or cultures at the door, your free to express and celebrate any way you want, but there will never be a ramadan sale at macys, or a sukkot aisle at target. deal with it, and quit ruining the american culture by crying about it and suing!

the sole difficulty with our present day equipment is that we've corporatism, no longer capitalism. If the industry have been somewhat loose, we'd each and every be waiting to start a corporation without leaping by way of a bajillion criminal hoops, filling out countless varieties and paying exhorbiant expenditures. With our present day systemn of corporatism, the prosperous are waiting to speak their prosperous acquaintances (the beaurocrats) into passing rules that make it greater durable for the common little guy to get into corporation as a competitor. working occasion: the patron Product safety Comission is quite legislations it rather is presently interior the works on a Federal point that should disallow any toymaker to sell a toy that has no longer been chemically examined to tutor that there is no longer lead paint or something volatile in it. it somewhat shouldn't harm Mattel, because of the fact they're extensive and don't have a difficulty meting out the $$$ to have each and every toy examined. in spite of the undeniable fact that, that's a difficulty for the little previous woman on the honest that sells rag dolls this year... She must be despatched to penitentiary if she fails to have each and every diverse style of rag doll examined for lead paint! comparable with the guy who makes play homes for babies, and so on... All of those products of legislations that are for our safety merely finally ends up hurting the little guy interior the tip. IIf we've been to end corporatism, and permit genuine capitalism to flourish, i think of we'd see a favorable shift upwards for the common American genuine off the bat.

Ok, now go back and read the article. Specifically this part right here.

Elizabeth Zahdan, a mother of three District 122 students, says she took her concerns to the school board this month, not because she wanted to do away with the traditions, but rather to make them more inclusive. "I only wanted them modified to represent everyone," she said.

Nixing them isn't the response she was looking for. "Now the kids are not being educated about other people," she said.

There's just not time in the six-hour school day to celebrate every holiday, said Smyth, who sent the message to principals that they need to "tone down" the activities that he sees as eating too much into instructional time. "We have to think about our purpose," Smyth said. "Are we about teaching reading, writing and math or for parties or fund-raising during the day?"
__

The Jello think was bunk, but the woman who wanted her beliefs taught did nothing wrong. The school chose to teach nothing and represent nothing over being diverse. Either solution is fine, exclusion is not. I applaud the school for focusing on teaching instead of wasting time with frivolous stuff that takes away from education.

__

This is not a pure democracy! The reason it is not is because a majority rule is merely 51% of the people forcing their ways on the other 49%. What is wrong with inclusive naming and celebrating? Will you feel different when youre in the minority?

It never ends. The early colonies had laws limiting how often prisoners could be fed lobster, because it was considered poor people's food. Methodist preachers were locked up for violating the laws requiring that only Anglicans could preach in public. Until that last century, many American towns required all businesses to close on Sunday. In most of America schoolgirls were not allowed to wear pants until the 1960s. Things change. Often, but not always, for the better. That's life.

The US culture has constantly changed over the past 300 years I believe the US culture gets more and more potent every day but you are right people migrating to this country should have to adapt to the way things are until they have proven themselves and grown a voice in the community but we only have our government to blame for giving people a free ride these days. The government wants people to depend on its laws and handouts instead of having a voice and working hard, that keeps the power in thier hand and the people they are letting sneak in fall right into thier agenda since they are used to this control as it is.

There is no real U.S. culture, it was founded by a lot of different types of people fleeing percecution. Either you celebrate all the different American cultures or you leave them all out.

I think it ridiculous and should be really looked into. Our voices dont seem to be enough, so what more so the government officials want from the americans citizens. Things are going to start getting violent soon and then we will all start having flashbacks of 1963 with Illegal hangings and stuff. If the government wants there to be less violence, I suggest they start to think of what citizens may take into their own hands after a while.

The liberals are doing everything they can do destroy our culture. They hate themselves and they hate the good ole USA! Out of control immigration and the "Cult of Multiculturalism," created by the libs, will be the death of this country. We must make sure illegal immigrants are deported, not legalized, as the Dims want to do. Legal immigrants should assimilate, or go back home.

The ACLU is very active in trying to destroy our nation with their support of illegal immigration and their hostility towards Christianity. Those evil atheists even sued the Boyscouts!

It ends when "WE THE PEOPLE" stand up and say ENOUGH! We have to stand up and tell the government we wont take it anymore and that we want enforcement to start and Iraq to be at the back burner. We have to say we want AMERICA protected at the border, not letting in Mexican trucks with illegal aliens that wont be searched. It is when we stand as one and say GET OUT OF NAFTA, and stop the NAU!
