Ok, so I might be the only freak on the planet who does not own a George Foreman grill. I want to know from people who do: is it as great as they say, is it easy to clean, is there a variation on standard cooking times (slower, faster?) Would you recommend one? Please give me reason for "yes" and "no" answers... And thanks in advance!!!!

I didn't mean to imply (although I can't believe you thought I did), that I don't wash my dishes or clean up after myself. I am quite capable of doing so, but some things are not worth it to me (i.e.- waffle maker)....

And again, thank you for the answers...

I think there are some very valid points made on both sides. I have not decided whether I will buy one or not, yet, therefore can not make a choice for best answer, but thank you all!

Hi! I have a George Foreman grill. I have had it for 6 years now, and I haven't had to replace it yet. The clean up sometimes is a bit tricky. Use a damp towel to clean it, you don't want to scrub it. If you scrub it, of course, the surface will get scratched and you will probably have food that sticks.
So far, I haven't had any trouble with mine. I love to cook with it. It's not made for lazy people. It's made for people who are pressed for time, and have to cook quickly sometimes. I grill, steaks, chicken, pork chops, and lots of vegetables. I haven't found a vegetable that I can't cook on there, yet. I even cook potatoes on there.
When I first got it, I was a little intimidated, and really didn't think I'd use it very much, but I use it about 3 times a week.
I highly reccommend getting one.
Yes get one!!!!!

It is a good grill to take into the mountains for quick cooking meats like burgers and hotdogs maybe some pork chops and chicken breasts that are boneless and thin. makes a mighty mean steak and toasts bread pretty well. I have one at the hunting camp. It has non stick so it cleans up pretty good. Both sides of the food cook just like a waffle iron. I do not recommend it for cooking any kind of meat with bones in it.
you can't cook eggs or pancakes on it because of the angle. It does drain the fat real well because it is on an angle. If you lose the little grease catcher then the grease will go everywhere, unless you put a plate or something to catch the grease.

The short answer:
Yes - get one. No - there is only one temperature. And they are kind of a pain to clean.

The longer answer:
I'm a vegetarian and I grill lots of vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, onions, mushrooms, garlic, green peppers, etc) and tofu . . . the grills are pretty annoying to have to clean, but I like what they do. I have cooked fish on mine before, too for friends and that was a huge mess.

The grills are so cheap, though (I think mine was $14.99) and I find what's inconvenient about them (largely the cleaning) not to hamper my interst in using it. Get one!

I love my foreman grill. I have the model where you can actually adjust the temperature. I cook chicken, pork chops, burgers, hot dogs and steak on it.
The only real trick to cleaning it up is to wipe it down with a wet cloth while it is hot. Stuff just comes right up.

I got one as a gift years ago and I think I've only used it maybe a 1/2 dozen times. It isn't because I don't like it. I just don't think to use it. I guess I'm kind of set in my ways where cooking is concerned. It's just habitual for me to use the stove or the gas grill. I think I finally relocated it to the basement. I'm not knocking it....it just wasn't for me.

I used to have one and didnt used it that much as I thought! I know people who use theirs daily! It is great for watching what you eat but I liked the taste of grilling on my propane grill better or using foil bags and add marinades and you cant do that with the GF grill. I think you should get one! Theyre very convinient and quick and yes easy to clean !! Maybe look for one on craigslist.org or ebay or even a thrift store so your not losing out that much if you dont like it or use it that much!

I am a college student and I love mine mainly for its ease of use!
It doesn't heat up the house like an stove does and cooking time is cut down.
Grilling an chicken breast up is short work on one of them as well.
It makes great quesdillas because it crisps up the tortillas!

I have one and I love it. I love to BBQ but I have to say that the best steaks I have ever made where on the George Foreman grill. I use it for chicken, and hamburger's. Its really great, but its very fast so you need to time it. Like my steaks, I leave them in there for like 5mins. Its fast so watch out.

My opinion, is don't waste your money !!! I tried several different meats, and veggies on mine, and just did not like the taste. Perhaps, because all the flavor is in the fat that has been drained off. Don't use it at all anymore. Maybe you have a friend that has one you can borrow and try before you buy. Good luck to you.

okay-a simple and fast way is to do it in a frying pan....assemble the sandwich, butter the outside of each piece of bread....put it in the fry pan on med heat and 'fry' one side, flip when brown and do the other side...watch you don't burn as it frys/browns fast.....all four of my adult kids grew up on this method as it's fast & easy.....

I have a George Foreman grill-my plates remove and can be popped into the dishwasher/or sink..it's great on meats that are higher in fat but for fish or chicken (white meat) it tends to dry it out unless you wrap them in foil packets first....
