There are different types of CPR classes out there for you to take. I would recommend the Heartsaver for Friends and Family courses. There are adult and infant classes I would recommend both.
American heart association's website is a good place to start looking for information on CPR.
http://www.americanheart.org
They have a class locater:

They may also offer classes online.
As an CPR instructor and EMT, I would also recommend a basic first aid class.

Red cross has some cpr certifications. They last about a year then you would have to renew it. I have to get CPR certified through the city of San Jose for my job.

Check in the telephone book for your local chapter of the American Red Cross. They can CPR certify you.
Also take basic first aid, and you'll be babysitter-ready.
Good luck!

Call your local Fire-Rescue Department (non-emergency number, of course) and they will be happy to help a young person wanting to do such a responsible thing. You will not only learn how to help people with no heartbeat, you will also learn how to save choking people, what to do for a bad cut or broken bone, and what to do is someone has a seizure. Try to get some friends to take the class with you, and bring their parents along too.
