Hail Eris!

Someone who answers questions like "What is Eris?" with statements like "FIVE TONNES OF FLAX!" Well, if they're Discornadians, anyway, or something.

Discordianism is a religion disguised as a joke disguised as a religion which revolves around the worship of Eris (Discordia), Greek goddess of Chaos. Its tenets are way too complicated to go into in such a small space but, for more info, check out either the Illuminatus Trilogy, by Robert Anton Wilson, or, if you are lucky enough to find a copy, Principia Discordia, the "bible," so to speak, of the sect.

Check out a book called the "Principia Discorida." It's an open source, you should be able to find it online.

Discordianism was founded sometime in the late 50's by Malaclypse the Younger. It's a chaotic/absurd "religion." It's like the older version of the FSM, but funnier.

It contains gems like this:
The Law of Fives states simply that: all things happen in fives, or are divisible by or are multiples of five, or are somehow directly or indirectly appropriate to 5.
The Law of Fives is never wrong. – Malaclypse the Younger, Principia Discordia, Page 00016

My aunt gave me a copy when I was a teenager and I've been a fan ever since. Because, you know, I'm a nerd like that.

Gotta love it.

It's a form of search engine....

Oh, wait, I'm muddled....I meant to say it's something you find with even a rudimentary search engine.

Or maybe I didn't.
