I do the same thing. I turn the water on, and I always wondered if they could still hear me even though the water was running.
It's good to know I'm not the only one who does that :-)

Your other option is to say you want to go home, it's time to go, you need something at the store, you're tired. Then go find another washroom where your friend isn't near.
If you're staying the night, say you want to go to sleep and take a shower first. Turn on the water, use the washroom, hop in the shower and go to bed.
If those aren't an option, then you must go and do your business. Just excuse yourself and go use the bathroom! When you come out, you can mention that you must've eaten something today that didn't like you, and that your body reacted "funny" to it. That's all.(If you have to say anything at all)
And lastly, pay attention to what you're eating. Try to notice which foods make you feel sick. You could have IBS or lactose intolerance or another gastric issue, and if you avoid some foods, you will not get unpleasant tummy aches and bathroom urges.

Lady, when you have to go... what's the big deal? Friends or family's houses? The bathroom serves the same purpose. Don't worry about covering your sounds, just do your business and make sure you clean up afterward. Meaning, flush and spray (if available) and wash your hands. The consequences of holding it in can be disastrous... you know what I mean. No one will say no you can't use the bathroom nor care what sounds emerge from it.

If you are going to do a pee then aim for the bowl rather than the water at the bottom and if you are going to do a number two then put some toilet paper down the toilet first so that you don't make a splash. As for the smell, open the window and spray some deodorant, air freshner or anything to hand!

How about this? Using their bathroom and stopping up the toilet? That happened to me once. I went and told the person and asked for something to help fix the problem, then fixed it myself.

LMAO! That reminds me of my Aunt. She carries spray in her purse because she doesn't trust people to be as clean as she is. I suppose you could use it to cover smell as well! Personally, I keep spray in the wash room so if guests need to use it, they can. Running the water is a good idea! Thanks for the laugh. I hate to go at other peoples houses too.

Faucet and fan and whatever it takes if you think you are going to make noise. It can be embarassing but when you gotta go you gotta go. And i am sure they have been there too

You use the bathroom.
The consequences of NOT using it are much worse.
Gurgles and splashes are part of modern plumbing. They have heard these things millions of times, and are used to them.
Certainly a polite host would not comment or notice any untoward sounds.
Please use the restroom when visiting others. If you are ill, you should not be visiting others and spreading your germs.
