hmmm 25.00 for one meal?
or 25.00 for a week??
one meal I could really get creative
I am used to just over that for a week (seems that way anyway)
1 lb hot italian sausage
1 onion
1 green pepper
1lb mushrooms
1 head of garlic
3 cups of rice

Prepare rice by directions on bag
while rice is cooking
brown sausage (remove from casing)
once browned remove from pan
in same skillet add 2 talbespoons oil or butter
sweat onions and garlic
add green peppers
finally addd mushrooms
once all sweated add meat back to mixture
once all heated through mix with the rice and serve
you could do a tossed salad to go with it
1 meal less than $25.00 (actually about 12.00 depending on where you live)

Yes, absolutely, I am a house dad who cooks for seven people every night, and do it sometimes for just 50 cents a person.

Now, not knowing what your tastes are, or how many people you are cooking for, it is hard to give ideas, but I assure you it can be done for 25 dollars but it takes a little preparation.

Find a simple recipe, write down the amount you need of each, and take it with you, stay away from impulse buys and keep it simple.

In the kitchen, make sure you get everything out that you need ahead of time so it's all there, confusion is the biggest enemy in the kitchen. Then as you use each item for the last
time, drop it in the sink. Why do those two things? Because confusion is the biggest enemy in the kitchen.

here is a link to get you started of a website called recipes for under five dollars

Good luck!

How many people do you need to cook for and how special does the dinner need to be? $25 is lots of money!

Fish pie would be nice.
White fish, poached in some milk, make the milk into a white sauce, pour over the fish in an oven proof dish, top with cookrf mashed potatoes, ruffle up the top & put some grated cheese on top. Bake in the oven for a while until nice & hot through. Serve with a crisp salad & crusty bread; or with some steamed cabbage or kale.

Epicurious dot com is a good site, they have loads of recipe ideas.

Have fun! And remember, over 1/6 of the planet has to survive on less than $1 a day.

BURRITOS

1 package 10 tortillas
1 chicken breast
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup sour cream
1 Tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1 carrot, sliced
1 green pepper, cut in small pieces
1/4 cup frozen or fresh corn
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese

Cut chicken in small (1/2 inch pieces) and fry until done. set aside.
Preheat over 325F.
Mix soup and sour cream together in a small bowl and set aside.
Heat butter and chili powder in a saucepan. Add vegetables. Stir occasionally until vegetables are cooked. Add Chicken and stir. Add 1/4 cup of soup mixture and stir. Take pan off the burner.
Place a tortilla on a flat surface. Scoop 1/4 cup of vegetable mixture on one end of the tortilla. Roll the tortilla so that the mixture is snug inside. Place the rolled tortilla in a baking pan, flap-side down and against the side of the pan so it does not unroll. Do this with the rest of the tortillas and place them snug against each other.
If there is any remaining vegetable mix, scatter it on top of the tortillas. With a spoon, smooth the remaining soup mixture on top. Cover pan with aluminum foil.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove foil and sprinkle cheese on top. Bake an additional 5 minutes.
Serves 10.

Sure! You can make Chicken Cordon Bleu. All you need is some chicken breast (butterfly cut them yourself) ham slices and swiss cheese and bread crumbs. Put a ham and swiss slice into each butterfly slit. Use chicken broth and cornstarch to make a nice sauce. Complement with steamed broccoli and carrots. And probably a baked potato!

Or you can season up some steaks and put them on a Foreman grill or pan fry them in a bit of olive oil. Serve with a green salad with romaine lettuce and grape tomatoes and olives.

You can make a perfectly good beef stroganoff for that amount. Or a Hungarian Goulash.
Or Pork Adobo, a wonderful Phillipino dish.
OK its spaghetti, but either Carbonara sauce or Puttanesca sauce. And you would lick your plate if you had my spaghetti and meatballs.
A couple of quiches. Be creative.
Beef with oyster sauce on either ramen or rice. Yumm.
Im getting hungry.
