next week I'm getting a "23" tattoo. When I see it written a certain way I'm reminded of how easy things are and how simple things used to be. When relationships were simple and your only worry was if you could scrape 5 bucks for the movies friday. I remember my faith I had in people and all my dreams I had. When I see it I am reminded of that innocence and it reminds me no matter how tough times get to always have faith in people, in yourself, and remember your dreams. I know this is a little much but im excited. on this show that was on about 5 years ago this girl got it and it represented her going from innocence to an adult and I really want to get it but im worried about the pain. I'm going to get it on the side of my hip. so its hideable and not a tramp stamp and not a place that could stretch suddnely (belly) so how bad do they hurt? im 18 btw

tattoos hurt..no way around it... they ALL hurt. I have a lot of them on myself, and i dont have one on my hip but ive had my stomach done and the skin feels about the same in both places so...id say... it's gonna hurt. feels like being burned and poked at the same time... if you dont think you can handle it then dont do it but if you beleive you're READY then go for it..it'll be worth it if you really want it.

Ok. I have a tattoo there and let me start by saying I am the BIGGEST baby! TERRIFIED of needles and have ZERO threshold for pain. I honestly didn't think it was that bad. Mostly just burned while he did it. I took my roommate with me and I just didn't look and talked to her the whole time. Take someone with you that you can talk to and distract you and it won't be bad. Just burns. The only times it will come close to really hurting is when he gets near a muscle (your abs) or a bone (your hip bone). And don't listen to people who say it only doesn't hurt if its on fat, because I'm skinny skinny and mine didn't hurt that bad. BEAUTIFUL tattoo idea by the way. I like it alot! Good luck and I hope this helps! Don't be scared because it isn't that bad!

The best way i can describe it to you is a Deep Constant Cat Scratch i have a giant tattoo that covers my back and hips. The shading hurt more than the outline. After a while you should go numb and if your lucky it will feel like a pager vibrating.Good luck i had to squeeze a Beanie baby on my first one. Make sure you have sugar you don't want your blood sugar to get low.

I hate needles. I cry when I have to give blood. I once bite someone while getting a shot. Having said that, if that tattoo is what you really want, then go for it. Tattoos hurt regardless, but they only hurt for a little bit. You will be in pain while you are getting it, and then it will be sore for maybe a week or so. Treat just like you treat a burn. After the soreness go away, you will have nothing but great memories of the experience.

i dont think tattoos hurt, i think it depends on your pain tolerance and a variety of factors. some artists have a heavier hand and you will feel it more, some are barely noticiable, i have two on my spine and those hurt a bit, but they are very close to the bone so they hurt more.
take two tylenol NOT aspirin before you go and be prepared for the worst, then when it actually happens, u'll be surprised by how little it did. It also depends on how much jiggle u have on your hips, more jiggle, less pain. be careful, they are addicting! ! ! ! !

I am going to attempt to dissuade you, strictly because of your age. What appeals to you at 18 is not what will appeal to you at 30 or 40 years of age and tattoo's are forever, but I digress...
Out of all my tattoo's, the one on my hip was the most uncomfortable to endure, however I do not regret it.

What is a tramp stamp, a tatoo on show? I have a couple of those.
No, it wont hurt, much.
It will be a bit sore but nothing you couldn't handle.
The only thing is you may find that while it is healing your clothes might rub against it.
