Go for it. If you need the money, you need the money. And it doesn't matter what other people think.

I would not be embarrassed of working at McDonald's. The point of working for something is a far better value than just sitting around doing nothing, waiting for a miracle to happen while you are broke. If you are broke right now and need money fast, go ahead and apply at MC D's and do the job. If you don't like working there, try department stores like JC Penney, Kohl's, Best Buy or Target. If they are not hiring right now don't get discouraged, sooner or later they will, the important thing is that you have a source of income coming from a decent job. The rest does not matter.

I don't think that people would make fun of you for having a job and trying to get a college degree...That is admirable. Good Luck!! :-)

A job is a job when you need money no matter where it is. There are tons of people working for Mcdonalds threw out the world I`m sure some of them are college students. What you should be embarrased about is being able to get a job but not going to apply because you are afraid of what other people will think. You need the money bad enough you`d work anywhere.

People will make fun of you no matter where you work. I work at a professional place with a mid-high level position and people give me sh*t because I sit all day at a computer (reason I am on here). Whats embarrassing is working there after you have your degree. Unless you end up a manager.

Some personal advice: If you based your life off what's embarrassing or what's cool then you miss out on some of the greatest things.

Good luck.

More than likely no one will poke fun at you but, if someone does, who cares? My former brother-in-law worked at a McDonald's in high school. After he graduated, he was drafted into the army during the Vietnam war. Back then they had a law in my state whereby anyone who left a job due to being drafted had to be given the same job once discharged from military service... along with the promotions that he would have received during that period. He retrurned to McDonald's and went from being a burger flipper to assistant manager almost overnight. It wasn't long before he became manager of his own store and then district manager. 35 years later he now owns 4 of his own McDonalds stores and is worth millions. I hope this true story makes you feel better,

There should never be embarrassment in having a job no matter what it is. Everyone needs to do whatever it takes to make money and pay their way. I don't care if that is digging a ditch or working in a fast food restaurant. Let others make fun if they will but you'll have the last laugh when you have those extra bucks in your pocket.

H ell no! Be glad to get a job. In our town, McD's is one of the lower paying fast food places. Is there a Taco Bell near where you are? They pay well and have advancement opportunities just like McD's.
HOLD YOUR HEAD HIGH AND APPLY FOR THE JOB!
My Daughter has worked at Taco Bell for 5 years now. Where we live, they start at about $8.00 an hour, better than some manufacturing jobs here.

Tons of people work at McDonalds. Tons of people that are now in all ranks of corporate McDonalds have worked at McDonalds at some point in their career. If if brings you money and the hours work to allow you to prioritize your studies first...do it. If you have some sort of hang up over it, take a look around at what your alternatives are first before deciding.

I would say NO. Its a job and ou could be doing a lot worse then working at McDonalds. I know from personal exxpericene that work study doesnt pay dip. SO you have my "Yay" for being adult enough to go out and get a job rather than mooch off your parents.

Sweetie...You're in college and need money! You also need a job that will allow you flexibility of hours. Let them laugh if they're that stupid and cruel. While you might be better off financially waiting tables at a restaurant, if that's not a viable option then work where you can.

NO! I used to teach at college/university and supplemented my meager income with part-time work at McDonald's. Let them make fun of you if they will--how shallow is that? You have your goals and priorities in order (going to college for more education/skill/better job); you're not sucking it out of your parents or the govt (medicaid/food stamps); you have already learned a valuable lesson: I am responsible for myself and achieving my goals.

Wish there were more like you!
