well the bible isn't meant to be taken completely literally. plus, if you do some research you will find that the bible is made up of different parts that PEOPLE chose to sound the best to them. LOTS of things have been removed/taken out. There's no way to know those lost bibles had to say. I think its more about just knowing right from wrong, and not interpreting the bible literally and applying it to your life. YOU know what's right and best for your life. What if you were homosexual? That's not something that you choose. Do you think God puts homosexuals on Earth just to condemn them to hell? No. God loves everyone. Everyone is different. And that's a good thing. I think you should apply the teachings of the bible to your life like this: know right from wrong, be nice to everyone, treat everyone equally, and live a happy life for yourself.

"Why is it so hard for some people to do what the Bible says?"
The Bible has no meaning for me and the long history of Christianity is nothing but one hideous atrocity after another. I honestly cannot imagine why sane people give the Bible any creditability at all. The whole topic of religion leaves me dumbfounded at humanity's astounding gullibility.

Because the time has come, just as the bible said it would, that the love of many has waxed cold, and they don't endure sound doctrine. Also remember that Proverbs says 'The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.' People will continue to hold on to thier beliefs which is a reflection of the conditions of their hearts. We can't save everybody, and everybody is not going to heaven. That is just the reality of it. Encourage as many people as you can to love and trust God. Who ever doesnt listen, that's between them and God. You've done your job.

Human nature and freewill. That is what we do as human we mess up. God did not intend for us to follow the bible perfectly. We came out sinners. We just need to do the best we can.

Best example I can think of right off the bat is King David...the man who was after God's Own Heart....he was a KING!!! He was a RULER!!!!
He had a man put to death so he could steal that man's wife and lay with her in sin and conceive a child that, sadly, Bathsheba lost.
You have to realize, one of the things the Bible stresses most strongly is that God created us...and gave us CHOICE. THAT is what we do: we choose; right or wrong, we choose.
God made us people. And people are going to be JUST that...human...fallible. That's why He sent His Son.

Setting aside all the tripe from ignorance here.
The reason people have a hard time obeying God is they try to do it from their own strength. Until you see that the whole point of the faith is relational. Jesus said " my sheep shall hear my voice and follow me and I will give eternal life to them." Jh. 10:27
Stop following rules and feel the freedom that comes from hearing the voice of God in your daily life. He who has the Son has life. and this life is in His Son Jesus Christ...

Well, I don't smite my neighbor for working on the Sabbath because he's a lot bigger than I am and I'm scared he'll smite me back. I guess I'm just a coward.

Because much of it contradicts human nature...and other parts contradict reason...while still others contradict common sense....and still more contradict caring for one another. I think that's why it's so hard.
