As you have had one before you should have no problems or surprises. There is no such thing as a Good or Bad dog, just the wrong owner for that dog!
Best training advice I can give, is if you don't want the behaviour in a mature animal then don't allow it in a puppy.
For example it's very unfair to allow a puppy to jump all over you and then suddenly 'punish it' for that behaviour because they are getting too big!
Most Airedales I've known have been very nice dogs though they can be bullies, so early socialisation with smaller breeds is recommended.
Good Luck finding your perfect pet.

Aaaahhhh ....................... Airedales - I luv 'em!!!
We owned one when I lived at home, lovely dogs, good natured & friendly but ours, at least, wasn't the easiest to train and was very slow maturing into a "sensible" dog.
Like any puppy, you just need to be patient, consisent and firm with them. They can look really "hard" and defiant - but they are quite sensitive under that tough look. Take it to a training class when it can socialise with other dogs. Ours was great with other dogs, but they were bred as "fiery" and won't stand any nonsense from other dogs. They are the King of the Terriers after all.
Go via the breed club to find a healthy puppy from a reputable breeder:

Go for it!!! (really jealous now!!)

Airedales are great! I know people that have them. As you had one before, then you know what it is to live with a terrier. Terriers are not for everybody. We have two terriers and would not have anything else.

They are good in the right hands. As for training tips a training dog school for puppies may be a good start.

I've met 30 or so in my grooming career and NEVER met one I didn't like. Even when getting groomed they were pleasant. they DO require grooming but since you've had one before you should know about the cost and upkeep. They are SMART dogs. Begin basic training early and you'll have a great dog. Good luck

Airdales are very strong willed and need experienced handlers. They are often not very good with new people and other dogs.Make sure if you decide to go for this breed that you go to a reputable breeder who breeds for temprement and you will be able to see the parents and perhaps some progeny.

I am not sure, but I know they aren't easy dogs to keep. They have been used as guard/ police dogs, and I have known people to get bitten by them- they need good training.

i've met 2 of them. both times, they attacked me. but as with all dogs (more or less), the dog is as good as it's owner trains it to be. both times i was attacked, the dog acted according to it's nature. 1st time, i got between the dog & my cat, 2nd time, i leaned into my friend's car window. the dog didn't know me & "defended" my friend. train it well & you should have a fine dog.
