So I had a bunch of parking tickets from like three years ago that I never paid cause it just really pissed me off that you can get a ticket for not having a front license plate. I have since bought a new car and have a different plate number. Can my tickets be traced through my new license plate?

Yes..... your license plates are issued to you under your name, dob and drivers license number.

You know whats going to really scare you is when they put those all on your credit bureau, which they do, and when they send it to collections and eventually take you to civil court and sue you. They can also suspend your license, impound your car and hold it for ransom until all the tickets are paid.

This will get really expensive.

You should make an effort to resolve it.

The tickets are to you, since the car was registered in your name. If they run the new plate numbers, the old plate will pop up as currently or previously owned car under your name, along with any violations under your name on your record.

They'll look up your record from your name or drivers license number. They'll also check the license to make sure the car's not stolen as well.

I can only imagine how much those tickets cost now versus just paying them when you got them.

Your tickets should've been traced through your licence. With that many unpaid traffic tickets I'm surprised you were able to put the new car on the road.

I guess it depends on what state/country you live in.

The parking ticket fines will follow the original registered owner. By now, they should have been turned over to a collection agency which will affect your credit rating. The longer you wait, the more you will owe.

Unpaid tickets are like bank accounts. The longer you have them, the more interest they draw. Both visually and financially.

yes, there will be a record with your name and address associated with your tag on the car that got the tickets, with this information they can cross reference you with your new car / tag.
