... is there any particular time or day of the week when the supermarket isn't full of any of the following groups of people:
* fat (I mean hugely obese)
* overly facially pierced
* tattooed and showing it off (usually along with their fat belly by wearing a short top)
* young mums who walk down the aisle with buggies next to each other trying to cram a weeks shopping into a basket balanced on top of the buggy
* the elderly who use their trolley like a zimmer frame and move in slow motion
* anyone who thinks the aisle crossroads are social clubs for stopping and chatting
Seriously, don't you think the supermarkets need to ban these people at certain times of day to let those of us with a list and a time constraint (and a life!) get our shopping and get out ASAP without being held up or put off our dinner?

I should have mentioned I only wanted answers from those who endure supermarkets in the UK. Give them my list at customer services and expect them to get it for me? Yeah, right...
Let me put it another way. The public swimming pool. At certain times they only allow "lane swimming" i.e. they put ropes the length of the pool and you swim up and down the pool. The public pool is restricted to those who want to swim for a few hours.
Why not do the same for those who just want to shop?
To gellygoggles: I wasn't saying mums with buggies shouldn't shop, just maybe not make it a group activity 3 abreast down the ailse? ;-) And you were spot on, it was Tesco. My local Waitrose is microscopic, but an altogether better shopping experience.
To LindaLou: You're in Canada so haven't a clue what I'm talking about, and you won't meet me on the road anyway.
Finally: I'm not judgemental. My local supermarket is like a freak show.

LOL to an extent I agree, BUT I am a mummy with a double buggy! so i cant be too cruel! Maybe you should change supermarkets. The peeps you describe are rife in Lidl, Morrisons, co-op, Asda and Tesco. Pop along to your local waitrose!!!

I am a manager of a convenience store, not a supermarket I know, but one of the leading names. I can tell you that unfortunately there are no such times when there are none of your list in the shop.
However, look on the bright side.............your not in there all bloody day like some of us!!!!!
The one's missing from your list are the infantile yobs who have had their first alcoholic drink and now think they are Arnold Scwarzeneger. The ones who use their mobile phones to get their partners permission to buy stuff as they obviously can't make a decision on their own. The ones who queue at the checkout get everything scanned and then fumble about trying to find their card to pay with. Causing a queue a mile long. Have it somewhere close you're gonna need it soon....... and the most favourite of all are the older generation who stink of lavender water and urine and linger too long near the fresh produce. Ugh! Why do I do this job???

supermarkets are for public, anyone from all sort of lifestyle can go to one. Whats wrong with being fat? or being a punk? or being just a mom or an elder? The supermarket again is a "public place" unless you are that rich that you can buy out a supermarket to close for an hour for you.
Just a tip*
If you already have a list* try to approach the customer service section of the supermarket to get assistance. They can get the items for you.
If you are really constraint with your time, we have convenience stores.
If you done want to go through all the hassle, get someone to buy it for you.
or better go to the supermarket like early in the morning when there are only few people buying.

Never go to any store.
You seem incapable of grasping the basics of civilized behavior and should be banned from all public places.
How does another customer's weight or piercings or other body art prevent you from buying goods?
If you feel a need to control every aspect of the behavior and lives of everyone you see, please move to a cave where you will never see anyone.
If people are blocking the aisle, go around the other way (that is, don't go where the way is blocked).
Stores are pretty empty before 8 in the morning, and after 11 at night.
What supermarkets need to ban are rude, obnoxious people who think only they have the right to shop in them.
Not to mention people who think that mothers with young children should be required to starve to death.

Its so true. I don't work in a supermarket, but have made similar observations. It would be discrimination to put into effect what you have suggested. I mean even the people with lists who are just there to shop, pay, and go home, are categorized by the employees as one of those weird ones. Go figure?

Wow, you must have some interesting grocery stores over there! Ours are filled with people that have 14 kids and insist on taking them all shopping with them, whereupon the youngest proceeds to scream at the top of their lungs, and the others play with every item in sight! (Squall Mart.)

Wow! You are a nasty one aren't you? Who shat in your cornflakes this morning?? Personally, it's nasty, judgmental people like YOU that I'd rather avoid in any public place, who are so completely self-centred that they think they are the only ones who matter and the rest of the world should stop and part like Moses parting the Red Sea so that they can get through. I also hope to never meet you on the road as a driver. I can only imagine...

I find that when I go to the supermarket aka grocery store in the mornings, it is crowded with old people/the elderly who leave their shopping cart in the middle of the aisles as they shop and don't have any common sense to park it on the side and they walk slow too. I'm not saying all old people do that just the people that I encounter

So basically what you are saying is anyone who is ugly or fat or inconvenient to YOU should be banished from the public arena. Could it possibly be that you are oh I don't know...selfish? The universe doesn't revolve around you ya know.
