No, height is hereditary. 5'8 is actually average, you don't need to be so tall anyway. Do you play blacksetball or what?

no, dad's wrong. protein is just one part of balanced nutrition. carbs are largely unnecessary but if you are selective, they are a good source of energy. because many nutritious foods do contain carbs, you need to eliminate all the non-nutritious "junk" carbs that you can.
Off the top of my head, to answer your question about which proteins to eat - nuts, lentils, eggs, yogurt, beans, fish, turkey, cottage cheese, chicken, etc. Many fruits and vegetables have non-negligable protein. Popcorn has protein, carbs, and fiber, and as long as you don't buy the microwavable stuff with weird additives, or load on salt and butter, it's not a bad food to eat.
Here is a list of "superfoods", which is just a trendy term for the foods your diet should consist largely of if you can afford them.

do your own search for some similar lists and information on how much of each to eat every week.
You're going to need to start researching and not stop for awhile if you want to understand diet. For starters, you might want to look into good fats vs. bad fats... that way you can explain them to your dad and make sure he is aware of the concept.
Oh, and correct diet won't affect your height much at all unless you are severly malnourished, but it's still worth doing. Might help with muscle and general well-being, for example.

JUST TO STAY EVEN THE HUMAN BODY REQUIRES 1/2 POUND OF PROTEIN EVERY DAY. TO MAKE MUSCLES AND HEIGHT I'D RECOMMEND AT LEAST TWICE THAT.

You need a balanced diet to provide energy for growth, but if you are done growing nothing will make you grow more.
