Formula one drivers make much more then NASCAR drivers. Michael Schumacher who was the top driver in F1 before his retirement last year made 40 million dollars from Ferrari (Excluding merchandising and other sponsor deals). Compared to Jeff Gordon from NASCAR who made 23.4 million last year (including merchandising and other sponsor deals.)

It depends. Some F1 drivers have to pay the team for the privilege of driving, others make huge sums. Again with NASCAR a few guys make big bucks, and others have a share in their own team, etc., so it's hard to compare.
