Yes it would have been much cheaper to utilize the US military for duties which were outsourced to various contractors, however the problem is that we are (as numerously reported) short staffed within the millitary, which is the reason so many soldiers have to do multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It was stated that the salary of one of the blackwater supervisors who oversaw approximatly 30 employees is 4 times the salary of General Patreaus.
It is without a doubt that the duties Blackwater and other contractors are carrying out would have been much cheaper if done by the military. And I would say both in the long term and the short term. As any Blackwater employee who may be diabled due to an injury received while in Iraq would still be eligible to Social Security benefits.

We could do it. We would just have to increase our total military strength. This would save us money during the war, but once it was over it would start costing us again. The whole reason why we are using contractor is because they cut back soldiers in the 1990s to save money. They knew if we ever went to war again we would need to hire them, in fact that was part of there plan.
As a Iraq vet and a former soldier stationed in Germany, NO. We were deployed more often then state side units. I was there for 3 1/2 years and did 6 months in Macedonia, 6 months in Kosovo, and a tour in Iraq. The troops in German get pimped out to much now, because the news media is not there to cover it. Those guys in Europe are some of the most deployed and have the longest off post training in the army, with only Fort Drum having more.

Yes! There was absolutely NO reason to hire Blackwater other than to pay back big million dollar donors to the Bush /Pubs campaign. The monetary no-bid contract paybacks is how they insure million dollar donors to the Republican party are granted million/billion dollar profits and insure future large donations to the Pubs again!
The military would Do a better job plus they are governed by the Code of Military Conduct unlike Blackwater. This way we know bad things are not being done in our name.

Probably, but with the military strapped out already and an OPTEMPO that is about ready to break the Army, where are you going to find these extra servicemen?
You do realize that the Brigade Combat Teams stationed in Germany are also on the rotation schedule for Afghanistan and Iraq.

gentle with it? the USA of a is purely going to inflict, on a some distance wider team of its very own electorate, a similar sort of terror procedures that it has inflicted at something of the international for an prolonged time. If this pass is sufficient to make the solid human beings of the USA of a start to take observe of what has been performed of their call, in the event that they start to work out for the duration of the awesome rubbish that passes for information in the common media, and in the event that they start to hold their elected representatives responsible, then the international would be a extra appropriate place. whilst the american human beings cheered whilst Oliver North became acquitted, it examined to the awesome wing leaders that folk will swallow any form of lies, regulation-breaking, homicide, drug-dealing, etc, by the government, purely as long because it relatively is wrapped in the celebrities and Stripes. individuals are purely like each and every person else on the earth. the great majority of folk might relatively do a stranger a stable turn than a bad. they like to sense that they are the solid adult adult males, helping to guard and enlighten the weaker worldwide places and human beings of the international. yet individuals are insular. There are nonetheless individuals who have faith that their strikes in Vietnam have been awesome. maximum individuals do no longer understand that the USA of a placed Saddam Hussein into potential in Iraq, they do no longer understand that the Taliban have been knowledgeable, armed and financed by the USA of a. they do no longer understand of their government's dealings with drug lords, crime bosses, conflict lords, corrupt regimes in worldwide places around the international. consistent with probability having Blackwater appearing as thugs on behalf of the government ought to rouse the human beings of the USA of a to a plenty broader reality, and take them previous the concept that life is in straightforward terms a depend of consume, excrete, and watch television.

That does depend actually. From what I understand if a contracter for any company gets hurt overseas it is not our tax dollars which go for their medical expenses or for there disability pay the rest of there life, like it does for US troops who earn a purple heart. So up front using the military is way cheaper, but the long term costs could end being more.

Why don't we just form another Federal Agency since Federal Agents overseas now must ride along with Blackwater operatives?

How about instead of more war funding and war talk we try to figure out what is wrong with our president when he can ask for hundreds of billions for the war in a Iraq when there are hundreds of millions missing and unaccountable for but we have to veto a child health insurance bill, what is wrong with our once great and helping country when war is more important than our children.

Yes, but then again, Blackwater would not even exist if we hadn't spent so many years emphasizing a "cheap" military instead of an effective one.
