The Mystical Mayo Clinic diet worked for me. You can loose up to 52 pounds, but it is very strict and it is not recommended more than 2 1/2 months.

For breakfast you have to eat 2 eggs (prepared any way) and 2 pieces of bacon with 4 oz. of grapefruit juice or a ½ fresh grapefruit.

For lunch any type of meat and a salad with any type of dressing (except for honey mustard) with 4 oz. of grapefruit juice or a ½ fresh grapefruit.
.
For dinner any type of meat and two veggies (no yellow or white veggies i.e.: corn or potatoes) with 4 oz. of grapefruit juice or a ½ fresh grapefruit.

You can have an 8 oz glass of skim milk or tomato juice for a snack. You can also drink decaffeinated tea or coffee. Also make sure the grapefruit juice is from concentrate and doesn’t contain any type of sugar.

You should only be on the diet for a 12 day cycle and then eat a moderate amount of carbohydrates 2 days. Then another 12 days on and 2 days off until you loose you’re your desired amount of weight. You do have to keep up your exercise routine; it may be difficult because without the carbs you feel a little drained and tired.

It's getting more difficult when you are closing the single digit body fat percentage, but I should be possible. Nutritional experts say that you should avoid losing more than about a pound a week to not lose too much muscle, so keep that in mind. My tip would be to add exchange some of the cardio with high intensity interval training if you are currently not doing that. It's tough, but really effective for shedding fat.

You cannot safely lose that amount weight. If you starved yourself you might lose it, but you would be to weak and sick to do what ever it was you were losing the weight for. A sensible diet with exercise could lose four or five pounds the first week and about three a week after that.

Reem was right that it is a bad idea, but it is actually a bad idea to shoot for more than 1 or 2 lbs of weight loss a week. It will not be sustainable if you lose more than that. If you really want to lose that much weight though, you can do what I did. I didn't eat for a week when my grandmother died. I lost 15lbs. You only lose that much weight when something is really wrong.

The best rule of thumb for losing permanent weight would be 1lb per week. Any excess of this is water weight and superficial weight that will be easily gained back. Lower your caloric intake to 1700-2200 calories, incorporate aerobic and anaerobic exercises, and the weight will come off. Slowly, but permanently. You will have also conditioned yourself to keep the weight off.

Good luck.

Cut salt to under 1,000 mg a day and drink 2 quarts of water a day. Cut carbs since they hold water.
To regain the weight eat something with salt and some carbs like a couple of pretzels.

loosing 6-9 pounds a week is a bad idea... you shouldn't loose more than 4 or 5... if you do this, you might actually loose muscles and not fat..... consult your doctor first so that they can can tell you how to loose weight properly...

by the way are you actually overweight?...

You can lose water weight if you need it for a wedding or something, but it won't go away for good. Fasting doesn't work because it will slow down your metabolism.

If you're looking to drop those pounds for good, eat healthy and exercise.
