Because they are taught that sex is the root of all evil. The idea is based in asceticism. Take a normal biological drive, and make people feel guilty about it. That keeps money in the church coffers.

Because, in religion, sex is something God created for a married couple to share. IT's not meant for handing out like candy. In the religious sense, we're better than animals because we have choices, and we can either make the right or wrong one. We have the power to control our instincts if we choose. So as far as the religious are concerned, we should control our sexual urges, so then when we do get married, we can share that one and only pure gift with our partners. It's special when u've waited ur whole life for that person, and it's even more special when u share the most intimate part of urself(ur sexuality), with that one and only person whom u'll spend 4ever with.
THis is also proven in life. U meet people in life and online who have problems when it comes to sex. Not phyisical, but emotional. Many say that yes, for men and women, a sexual bond brings u closer...atleast for a while. The religious folks sbelieve that because of this closeness, it should be shared with a person u made a matrimonial bond with. Plus, when the bond ends, then so does the relationship. But when ur married, u try to work things out, because it's not just a sexual bond u have, it's something more...so u try to work at it, and bring sex back in. Plus, when u haven't had any sexual experience with anyone at all before the marriage, there's an innocence in it all...and it's nice. That's something u can never get back or recreate quite the same when ur with ur one true love; and so, many do wish they waited for their current...even though at the time of their first, they were ready for that person.

I'm not sure that is true. I suspect it is your opinion based on the fact that religious people are not overly sexual and definitely are not promiscuious. Sexuality can be pushed to extremes. For some people this okay. For others it is not. For those who limit their sexual contact with only one person, a spouse after marriage, does not mean they are against humam sexuality. there are many religious people that if you were watching them in their bedrooms, you would think you were watching an x rated porno movie. But you would never see them acting that way in public. I suspect you have the wrong perception about this issue. And I woud suggest you might want to cool your promiscuitity too if you feel that is the way to express your sexual freedom ideas.

Religious (i.e. 'cult' ) leaders learned a long time ago that one of the easiest ways to manipulate and control people was to exploit sexual insecurity. Also, really hot chicks are way cooler than Jesus, so they have to be made to seem bad, so that men folk won't get distracted from their Jesus-lovin'.
Also, the poster above was correct--Most clergy do have small *****. Military doctors doing studies for the Pentagon during the Second World War established this as absolutely true. So we have a bunch of mini-***** out there, totally unable to satisfy a woman, and they use their positions of power to try to make the rest of us with normal sized equipment feel guilty about pleasuring our women.
Same thing with their homophobia--a very high percentage of pastors are closet gays, but unlike brave openly gay dudes, they are too scared to take it like men. So they just do in very secretly, but try to make other gays feel badly about doing what is just natural for them.

Careful! You're lumping a whole lot of people into one bunch! That's not fair. I have a strong faith, but have no hangups about sex. Now, that doesn't mean I think anything goes, it means that I'm not worried about what you do in the privacy of your own home with another consenting adult, or alone for that matter.
Of course, there are some 'religions' that kill people for breaking sexual behavior rules. However, that kind of person obviously is way too extreme, and that kind of religion is nothing more than hatred with a fancy name.

Why do so many people have hang-ups about waiting until the wedding night to have sex? Doesn't anyone have self-control? What's wrong with slowing the spread of aids, std's, teenage pregnancy, etc.?

thats yet another contradictory irony of religion. seems since their goal is to recruit as many followers as possible to contribute to the income and power of their religious leaders, they would be teaching to be very sexual inorder to produce more followers. afterall god fornicated with and knocked up another man's girl (Mary). Maybe the fat glutenous religious leaders were afraid there wouldnt be enough food for them if there were too many people running around.
religion is mythology.

the only crimes are their conceal-ups. something of the subjects are in basic terms public counsel. If a guy or woman is incapable of retaining their marriage vows made as a oath formerly God, do you fairly anticipate they'd save a campaign promise? in basic terms a fool would believe an adulterer.

Most pagans don't.... Look at the sexual escapades of our Gods if you don't believe me.....
My sex life is positively tame compared to some of the stories about Zeus, Apollo, Poseidon, Pan and Dionysus (not to mention Aphrodite)

not all religions; primarily the abrahamic ones.
it has to do with directing all sexual energy towards making as many new believers as possible as early and often as possible.
not to mention the christianity guilt mechanism.

I don't. I have my own idea of what God is, and My God doesn't see anything wrong with human sexuality. My God just wants me to do what makes me happy, and exploring my sexuality does make me happy. It also empowers me.
