I can't believe how many people took your question seriously. I am also (somewhat) surprised that certain individuals simply took this opportunity to make fun of your religion.

Ha! Are people taking this question seriously? I love it!anything remotely related to the Colbert report is only proof that stephen colbert is a comic genius. Nothing evil about it. Although there may be something evil about tony bennet... As for Harry Potter, many of the self-proclaimed Christians on this page could learn a lesson or two about Christ-like qualities by reading Harry Potter.

No it does not. It just proves that you are desperate to make something out of nothing.

Evil is in the heart of every human being. It is whether or not you chose to act upon it or not. There is no such thing as a Devil or Satan. This is an invention of the Christian faith to explain away their own failings.

We Wiccans take personal responsibility for our own failings and do not blame it upon an evil entity.

Harry Potter is a work of fiction, so anyone who puts actual faith in it is in need of serious therapy. Its a childrens fantasy book for goodness sake! Magick does not work like that!

Real magick is nature and beautiful. When used correctly it is beneficial and good. Real Witchs do exist, and some do walk a dark path. And when they do, the law of Karma always catches up with them.

As I said witchs do exist, however, we do not fly on brooms, apparate or do any of the things that Harry can do. (I wish!) Magick is more subtle then that.

Anyone who fears or believes in the Potter books and the magic in them needs serious therapy.

Like others have said (over and over and over) the Harry Potter series is just a series of fictional stories. That's it. Just something a teacher came up with, to feed her family and hopefully get kids interested in reading again rather than playing video games in the same styles as of "Grand Theft Auto," "Bully," and "Left Behind - Eternal Forces" (all extremely frightening games for any parent to see their kid playing)...

At any rate, I believe the bible is far more age inappropriate and R rated... (And Stephen King said the DISNEY stories were scary....)

Your link is pure satire. The writer of the story is spoofing all the fanatics that have been lambasting JK and HP. I found the stories to be quite Christian actually. The main theme of all seven books is quite simply, pure love conquers pure evil. It is ironic that she chose the genre of wizardry and witchcraft to tell her morality tale but the end result is the same. In book 7 JK finally mentions God openly for the first time. I found this quite revealing. She is finally moving from the symbolic to the unequivocal. As Harry's mother sacrificed herself out of love to protect Harry, thus making him immune to Riddle's evil intents, the killing curse failed five times against HP, so also Harry's willing sacrifice for the love of all that was important to him, protected all the school and students from Riddle's machinations. Harry told Riddle in the final showdown, "don't you get it yet, can't you see that your curses are not effective against anyone here?" (paraphrased). This is a clear allegory to the willing sacrifice of the Savior to protect all of us against Satan if we would repent and accept his sacrifice for us. Just as Riddle held up HP as a savior for the people of Hogwarts, and the people accepted that to be the case, Harry's sacrifice on their behalf protected them from Riddle.
If you read the books as entertainment and with the view of the whole thing being a modern morality tale, then they are quite entertaining.

Everything has the potential for good and evil. It depends on the individual. A spiritual person can be awed by the power thier spirit might have. And want to learn more of thier potential. A wicked person will create excuses and justification in order to use it for his own selfish purposes.

You do realize that the entire article you just cited is a parody, right?

And for the record, there's nothing evil about the Harry Potter books and too many people who say so aren't using their brains as god intended.

Dear Imamoron,
No the Harry Potter books are works of fiction, they are not evil. Your bible has far more evil in it that Harry Potter.

These books were written as FICTION, for the enjoyment of children. I'm sure the author was sitting in her home wondering what she could write just to piss off Christians. How about a wizard school full of magic, wonder and adventure?

You people need a life.
