I had a friend that was a Satanist, and he died this time last year. I want to do something to honor his memory, but I was wondering if there's any "protocol", for lack of a better word, when it comes to death for Satanists.

I would recomend you honor him on his birthday rather than the anniversary of his death. We embrace life, and the date of our entrance into this life is much more signifigant to us. It would depend on the individual though, on how you honor his life. If it were me, I'd want you to have a gin martini, bruised and dirty and toast to me.

There really is no set protocal or any real ritual for death in Satanism. Satanists focus more on life, specifically this life here and now, and they are like atheists in that they really don't believe in an afterlife or anything. Most of the time they won't even have funerals but will merely be buried or cremated even. After all they are gone from this world...the concerns of the living are no longer theirs.

It's nice that you want to do something to honor his memory and I would just do whatever feels right to you. You knew your friend better than anyone here. So do what you think he would have liked.

Just an interested answerer....

I would imagine that NO protocol is the protocol. that person understood that his life was finite. He would have belived that your responsibility is to yourself, and that you are allowed to do whatever you want, and he would wish you well.

not really, they don't actually believe in an afterlife, and respect others beliefs, so whatever you wish to do would be okay

Repent and ask forgivness for your sins so that you might escape the eternal fire and damnation he may have brought on himself. that is the best gift you can give him. If he were he now he would tell you the same thing. SEEK JESUS!
