NO leave is authorized between basic training and schools. he will get either one or two weeks the last two weeks in December, but that is ALL until he graduates school. them typically, they are allowed to take up to 30 days before reporting to their permanent duty station.

Your spouse will NOT be able to attend a birthday party on the 21st, he will still be in Basic training. 99% chance he will NOT be able to leave base those 2 days between BCT and reporting to school.. at most, he will have a mileage limit that he must stay within(usually 30-50 miles). and he will have to be back on base every night.

They will have "family time" after they graduate - my husband and I got 14 hours to spend together and then they shipped him off. His original orders said that he could come home for 2 weeks (there was 2 weeks between his grad and reporting to his next area) - well they just shipped him out the next day after he graduated and he had to do little jobs until his classes started. It was frustrating since I had already gotten him a plane ticket to come home. But that is the way the military works. While in basic is missed our Aniversery, his birthday and our son's 1sy b-day. I am glad that I at least got 14 hours with him.

no, he will be unable to attend his sons birthday party and he will not get more time between basic and ait. his basic is scheduled to coincide with his ait, so the gov't is not paying him just for sitting around for his training to start. You should have known this right after he joined since the reservation sheet has the dates on it. Chances are he will be coming home for christmas though since he will be in a training status. sorry he is going to miss the cake and ice cream but baisc is only nine weeks and there is so much to get done that they cannot give soldiers time off except for emergencies.

After I graduated BCT, I went directly to AIT. During AIT, i got to go home for two weeks during Christmas. Then after i got to my First duty station, i could submit leave anytime i wanted. When he gets do with AIT, he will have time to get you moved to his duty station. That will be your family time. The situation that your in is a hard one. Have a spouse in the military is never easy. Their will me missed holidays and missed birthdays and missed anniversaries. That is all part of being in the military. That may me times when he is celebrating in a whole other country. And as much it is hard on you, it will be just as hard on him too. Hang in there, there will have to be a lot of sacrifices made, and it will be worth it in the end.

I graduated from basic, and the same afternoon was on a plane to Georgia for AIT. I'm afraid he will miss your son's 1st birthday....................

The military will not help you on that one. Family comes second. As they told me in the military..."We own you". Nothing else matters.
