ok here is my honest answer,
work is really boring and I surf through answers when I am not doing anything and look for questions I think are fun (riddles and jokes), topics where I think I really do know how to help them, TV (because I love to give my opinion and see what others have to say), and there are just some questions that really deserve the sarcastic answer.
I don't think I am answering just for points but more for fun and something to do...If I help someone then yeah for me, if not someone else probably did and the asker still got a good annswer in the end anyways.
And I don't really care about the points...Really what can you get with them? I can't cash them in or convert them into game points where I can use them to play games.

I do not know anybody who is asking questions here. So, I guess that no I do not actually "care" for them. However, I also don't care about getting any best answer points. I am honest with my answers. And when someone has a problem I hope that I can help them with it. There are also the people on here that are rude and inconsiderate and deserve to be put in there place. That is my honest opinion......=)

Well I usually hang out in employment because I am in HR, so I really do care about the people in that forum - but I haven't seen too many interesting questions during the times that I have been in there lately. However, I like to wander in to other forums from time to time and see what's happening, and give my best stab at advice. Sometimes it's off, and sometimes it's on. I try not to tell people what they want to hear. I think that's the important part.
But if it's a fun question.... I am totally about getting the points.

I surf them because some are really funny and deserving of a stupid response, like the woman complaining that her neighbor's cactus plant looked phallic. Others seem genuine in their questions, and I like to help. I just posted a question myself because I truly am having an "etiquette" difficulty and want unbiased responses from those detached from the situation. Points mean nothing.... I just liked getting to Level 2 so I could give thumbs up and thumbs down. Now I could care less because it gets me nothing.

It's a mix, and for me dependent on the question. If the question appears to be a reasonable or heartfelt or otherwise real, I'll try to answer it as best I can. Some questions are thrown out to try to make people think or are just noise, so those get what they deserve.
Then there are those answerers that are just trying to rack up the points.

I think most people are truly trying to help and give good advice to the best of their ability. I mean, really, it's not like getting Best Answer will give us a new car or something. Just to prove my honesty, I'll tell you not to give me best answer even if I'm the only answer (doubt I will be though)

I don't care about anyone on these boards, I don't know them. So why would I care?
If I respond to a questions is because I know the answer to the question.
For me I learn allot from allot of the questions that are posted. I come hear to gain knowledge, and to occupy my time at work.

I think alot of people do try to be helpful. But again, this is all about points and that is the reward people aim for.
