It would seem to me that the book is really only as good as the best human you can find to read and interprete it. Could that explain why there are so many different denominations? Why there is so much faction within the commnunity?

....Maids answer is somewhat disturbing, given that anyone can make such claims. We can see how people end up with the likes of David Koresh.

Those of you, who point out the flaws of the book, are missing the point. Given that the book is perfect, yes, yes, I know it cannot be, but even if it were, you still don't arrive at the divine without a divine reader. Thus the dangerous claims to deity that are made and granted daily in our society. Just because something appears to be obvious does not mean it is not a tremendous force. A large truck bearing down upon the doomed pedestrian is a type of tautology, but should it be ignored for that reason? Is it not the duty of our teachers to point out the obvious and help us to better understand the consequences of ignoring the obvious?

The simple answer to your question is: to attain a *perfect* understanding, yes.
That is one reason why none of us (at least, as far as I know) has a perfect understanding of the bible.
Fortunately, I trust that most of us are *capable* of attaining an understanding *sufficient* to guide us to salvation.
In other words, it's good enough to give us unworthy humans a sufficient idea of *how* to gain eternal life so that we actually *can* attain it.
It doesn't need to do more than that, does it?

I would say not just a perfect reader, but a perfect translator and a perfect language. But I guess since I am an imperfect reader, I should just take the things I do know and understand. And maybe try and improve on that every day. And maybe we should accept that the other denominations and faiths are trying to do the same thing. Although it sure would be nice if we had someone to help us understand it, someone with a perfect understanding, like perhaps a prophet?.... Hmmm, where is ther a prophet and how can I hear what he has to say?....

That is a "given" which nobody with any degree of critical intelligence would be willing to accept.
The fact that we actually have arguments about whether or not a book written by desert tribesmen thousands of years ago is literally, word-for-word true (even though anyone who has actually read it knows it can't ALL be literally true) is perhaps the most depressing single thing about this doomed society of superstitious, malleable sheeple.

Paulo-People filled with the 'Holy Spirit' come up with different interpretations all the time. Haven't you been reading here?
The only way it would ever be considered 'perfect' is if everyone became delusionary and managed to vote one person as 'perfect' I guess the Catholics try with the Pope.

Humans have an agenda. God doesn't need one - he's already as high as anyone can go.
The way my prayers are granted and denied is a two way conversation between myself and my higher power. That's how I learn anything spiritual.
You don't have to believe that. You can always find a human with an agenda and ask him what the truth is.

How do you guarantee that the Bible you are reading hasn't been manipulated and intrepretations changed to fit those of the publisher or religion? There are literally THOUSANDS of versions, how are you sure your version is legitimate and then the others are not?

Of course not. The bible exists to teach to the imperfect and though we may try in this life, we will never be perfect until we reach heaven.
