Why are you ashamed? How is being a muslim a shameful thing? It is an act of faith.Dont be such a wuss. I believe that you might be around ppl who want to make you feel bad for the actions of another person who happens to follow the same religion. But if you buckle under such criticism you are being a WUSS. Dont submit to the guilt complex thrown at you. Be good , do good deeds, be nice to ppl. Laugh off such criticism.Well just coz some men are committing rape you dont see ppl chopping their you know what Off? So why should you give up your religion based on someone elses actions.

Learn to deal with that crap. If you wanna stay a muslim then find a path that you can live with...if not leave or convert.
You shouldn't be ashamed of who you are if you are a good person who tries to do right by others. If you were brought up in a hardline family and taught hatred you should know there are LOTS of muslims who believe in love over fear.

Why are you ashamed? I know Muslims are getting a bad rap, what with extremists, and terrorists. But be proud of your heritage and never forget your roots. I am not a Muslim, but know many, and find them to be honest, compassionate, and very very insightful. Our life is about discovery. Perhaps you are discovering a new path in life. Whether you convert to another religion, or abandon religion, always remember to go with what makes you happy.

whatever you do
Dont leave one fear based religion for another
tryout : RUGGED INDIVIDUALISM
Because fear is the most productive tool these mind control cults have to win over and keep followers.
Source(s):
Remember, "god" is nothing more than a nonsense word created by man to explain away all of the things we can't yet understand.
Religion is a disease of the mind, born of fear, which has done nothing but bring untold misery down upon the human race.
If you can't get someone to convert willingly through preaching, fear is the next best tool.
Christianity for instance is based on two principles:
1. If you believe, you will be rewarded with the prospect of an eternity in Heaven when you die.
2. If you don't believe, you will be rewarded with the prospect of an eternity in Hell when you die.
For Christians:
God is all-loving, all-wise and all-merciful, so long as you submit to becoming a slave - salivating and singing heaps of praises on him for all eternity.
Much like an Earthly dictator who rules his subjects under rule of tyranny - submit or suffer.
Two methods in which religion spreads
1)Violence
2)Child Indoctrination

Salam,
What has caused you to feel ashamed? Is it the actions of others who defame Islam by using violence? Is it because of those who apply their own meaning to jihad and seek not the way of peace but that of hatred and destruction?
There is nothing to be ashamed of in Islam nor should anyone feel ashamed to be Muslim regardless of what may be wrongfully done in the name of Allah by others.
My advice would be to speak with a wise Imam who can advise you. I would encourage you to read the Holy Qu'ran and be faithful in Salat.
It is not easy to be faithful. It is not easy not to have doubts. Nevertheless, if we truly follow Allah and open our hearts to HIM then He will grant what we need to overcome these spiritual obtacles.
Please e-mail me if you would like to talk further.

Follow your heart. Either subscribe to no religion or to one which better fits you. Maybe Buddhism?
